Anyone familiar with ringworm? I think Cooper has a spot on his leg that might be ringworm. It's round about 1/4inch in diameter, the center is smooth but the edges are red/rough/ scaly. I noticed it about 4 days ago and it's not going away. At first I thought maybe just dry skin. Well now I'm wondering if it may also have something to do with his diaper rash? I called the Pedi on Friday b/c for the past couple of weeks he has had a rash on his buttocks that didn't look like any of his past diaper rashes(usually smooth red raw looking). It's been raised red, scaly bumps. It looked like it was going to clear up after a few days of Butt Paste but came back with a vengeance and has spread to his front area and lower abdomen. The Pedi told me to buy some Lotrimin and use it up to 3 times day and if it's yeast it will clear up. Well she didn't tell me how long it might take? I've been applying the Lotrimin 3 times day and it's really not getting any better. I've even been putting it on the spot that looks like ringworm but it's also not going away. Does anyone know how long it takes? Do you think he may need an Rx? 2nd - How did he get ringworm????? We don't go to daycare, rarely even leave the house(scared of RSV and twin meltdowns), no older siblings, no pets in the home. Ringworm just sounds so gross!

I don't know if it's ringworm, it might be. That bad diaper rash seems more of an issue - poor baby!! All ringworm is is a fungus. It's not horrible, but VERY contagious. Put some athletes foot cream on it, and if it's ringworm, that should clear it up. Just be sure to wash your hands really good before and after. It might be worth a trip to the pedi just because of all that's happening, the little bubba sounds really uncomfortable and maybe they can give you something stronger for the rash (mine got a Rx cream that cleared it up once). Good luck! edited to add a PS - my pedi said that when fighting a tough diaper rash - use desitin. it has a higher zinc content that protects the best and helps dry it up. when you say "butt paste" are you using the bouderouxs butt paste? it works ok, but not when they have bad bad rash. get desitin. HTH
Steph, don't panic!! I have actually had ring worm a few times. Probably got it from the dog (me) and he could have too if you have any pets. Put iodine directly on the spot a couple times a day and it'll clear right up! edited to add: As for the rash, this is what we did when we had it SO BAD they were bleeding in spots! Clean them up, then put a bit of powder to completely dry the area. THEN put the yeast medicine. Rub it in as thoroughly as you can and THEN put the DESITIN on THICK!! I mean THICK!!! IF you have a place that you can let them be commando for a little while. Do that too!! Jamie (kysweetheart) recommended this when mine had it super bad just before their first bday! If they can be naked for a while (10 min.) then try to let them. They love it!
