I had to retire my wedding rings this morning...it was a very solemn occasion. My fingers always swell in the wretched heat and humidity of the DC area but throw in pregnancy and this day was inevitable. I am wearing the now tarnished silver ring I bought to wear while my husband and I taught English in China so at least there are happy memories attached to it. I am considering a fancy 3 carat Diamonique for a bit of flashy flare...j/k.

If you had to take off your wedding ring or any ring(s)...when did you remove it or them? I am 23 weeks.

I think I was about 26-27 weeks when I took mine off, it was just getting hot here. I was soooo sad to take it off, but now I'm used to it. I was going to get a fake ring so I still had something to wear, but since I've gotten put on bedrest I don't see the point! LOL Mine might actually fit better now since I'm not having so much swelling as I was when I was on my feet all day, but I just haven't gotten around to trying it back on.

I just removed mine this week. I am lost without them and my husband doesn't want me to wear them on a necklace. He is afraid that I may lose them. It is getting hot here in MI so I thought it was time to remove them.

I took mine off at 23w5d, when I was hospitalized for hospital bedrest. They still fit, but I didn't want to grow out of them while in the hospital then have nowehre to keep them safely.

I actually was just able to put them back on starting maybe 6-8 weeks ago.

Mine were off at 28 weeks and I was very sad. I have only been married a year and I just managed to keep them on until our anniversary. My hubby is wearing the band on his pinky to GUARD it for me. I thought that was very sweet!

I took them off from pretty much the begining. They were getting relly hard to take off and put back on. I don't know why, but I feel a little guilty. My husband is a painter and I always harp on him for not putting his back on.

I had to take mine off at 30 weeks. Now I wear it on my pinkie finger. My fingers look like they have trippled in size. I can't wait to have these babies.

I too had to retire my wedding ring and engagement ring this morning. The east coast is brutally humid and hot today and I just knew it was coming. I can't even wear my shoes anymore and my watches and bracelets are tight. Oh well. Its better than forcing them on only to have them cut off because they are stopping circulation.

I can still barely get my rings on, but I do plan on buying a fancy fake to use as a substitute while I can't wear them :)

I had to take mine off at about 24 weeks, and I never was able to wear them again. I wore some fake ones, but even those didn't fit after 30 weeks. My wedding band began fitting about a month after their birth, but my beautiful engagement ring still doesn't. I don't know if fingers just grow for other reasons other than weight gain ??? So this year for mother's day I got a new engagement like diamond ring. My DH is so sweet and felt so bad for me cause I cried a lot about my engagement ring not fitting, he said he planned on upgrading anyway so he let me pick out a new one. Of course the original one is saved for my daughter to wear on her right hand when she gets older.

Ironicly today was my day as well!!! I have on a plain silver band that doesn't pinch anywhere! I have actually done great with swelling. I could still get my ring on, but it just felt annoyingly tight.

I feel you on the heat and humidity, I'm a bit south of Montgomery, AL and I might as well be in a tropical rainforrest!

I still had mine on when Emilie was born at 25w3d, but it was winter then, so that definitely made a difference.

I still had mine on during the C-Section. They just put tape over all my rings. But it was winter for me also. With DS I couldn't wear rings starting at like 27 weeks because of the heat/humidity.

I wore mine until 32 weeks (my shower was the last day I was able to wear them) and I put them on a necklace after that...they went back on about 4 weeks PP

I took mine off a week or so ago. I could probably still wear them but it's uncomfy. My band is really thick and my skin was peeling and gross under it.

When I was pregnant with my first 2 I had to take my rings off, So I wore them around my neck on a thick chain. I am at 16 1/2 weeks and have not swollen yet but if I do that is what I plan on doing!

Good luck with everything. Hope this helped a little!

I took mine off almost right away. I don't know, it wasn't too tight or anything but I just couldn't stand the feel of it, it was weird. To be honest, I haven't put it back on yet. I have tried but it still drives me nuts, I have lost all the weight so I know that isn't it but it bothers me. Maybe I will try again today...

  20. Waited too long to take mine off. I'm headed to the jewelers to ask them to cut them off (and repair them).

    Grr.

I just took mine off a week or so ago, but I should have done it way before! I remembered a horror story about a friend who needed to have her rings cut off because her fingers swelled, so I decided that it was time to take them off. My rings are snug because I have pretty small fingers and I don't like them to spin when it get cold, but I guess my knuckles aren't that small (especially now).

Anyway, I was able to get my engagement ring off with soap, but could not get my wedding band off. I tried baby oil, vaseline, more soap and ice before I really started to freak out. I finally soaked my finger in ice cold water for a long while and slathered it again. I yanked and yanked until I though my finger was going to break and it finally came off. My poor finger was not right for days!

I think you were smart removing yours when you did. I am thinking about going the Diamonique route too, my finger feels naked now.

My bf and I just recently got engaged and the ring he bought me is gorgeous and about 1-2 sizes too big. Everyone said to me not to get it re-sized because I will put on weight and my hands will swell. So I didn't, it still comes flying off my hand occasionally and I have to take it off at night coz it swivells in my sleep and digs into my fingers. But I am guessing by the sounds of the previous posts that they were right. lol.
