We are becoming baby carrier central around here -- we have pouch slings, an Ergo and a Bjorn -- and now we are thinking that two ring slings might be nice. I would like to be able to hip carry them, and the pouch slings we have aren't quite the right size for that, so it feels precarious. But there are so many brands of rings slings to choose from. I don't know if they are all basically the same, and I have big-time baby gear comparison shopping fatigue.

So ... who has got a ring sling that they like? Is it easy to use and adjust for a hip carry? Have you hip carried two at once?

HA...you read my mind...I was JUST getting ready to post this exact question about slings. who has them? which one? how do they like it?
    Will it work with twins?

Can't wait to hear the responses!

I'm also looking for a good ring sling or pouch for a hip -- or better yet -- BACK carry. Does anyone had a sling they feel secure using to hold their little one on their back? I find that even with the hip carry, I can't really attend to the second baby.

I have this one and it's great. I choose it because it seemed versatile and it would last awhile. Right now I just do the bf carry. You wouldn't be able to use two at once, I dont think. Also, it's a bit expensive for what is essentially a long piece of stretchy cloth.

I have 2 navy blue Jolly Jumper Slings..pretty much identical to the Over The Shoulder Baby Holder (jolly jumper is a canadian brand) that is widely available in the u.s. They are good to 2 years old and I've worn both babies at the same time in two seperate slings criscrossed. A few times with both in a hip hold and other times one is in one hold the other is another..they dont always like the same holds at the same time [IMG]

Works great, simple to use, easy to wash etc....I really have no complaints about my 2 ring slings [IMG]

I have the Heart-to-Heart ring sling and I use it all the time - it's comfortable for me to wear and the babies both love it, and often fall asleep while they're in the sling. We have big twins (around 15lb each) so I don't try to wear them both at the same time, but there are photos here of twins in the Heart-to-Heart sling.

Their main website is here. They're a Canadian company, fyi.

Most of my friends with singletons have Maya Wraps and love them. If you sew, the Maya Wrap site has directions for making one and you can get the rings very inexpensively at slingrings.com. I made one and kept it in the bottom of my Mountain Buggy all the time when my two would have periodic meltdowns when out and about.

Have you tried putting their legs up in a "frog" position when you are trying to hip carry them? They're still a little young to hip carry with their legs dangling down but that might work for you with the pouch sling.

We have two Maya Wraps. I hip carry them both or Buddha carry them facing in... they are still a little young for out facing yet. I'm not adventurous enough to try a back carry in the sling so we stick to football carry (head to head), Buddha carry (cross legged on the hips), I tried a hip carry with legs out (Norah is too skinny and I don't think its secure enough)and I put them in one still... both facing in on my chest.

I was planning on buying a PeaNut shell for underneath the ring sling. The trouble I have is adjusting the bottom sling when there is a baby in a top sling. I would LOVE a moby if I was only carrying one.

This is pretty much a Moby.. love them as they seem great for the back but I need one to carry both. I hardly use my stroller so I think I have to stick with my Maya Wrap.

I have the Maya Wrap, the Moby a Bjorn and two ring slings. I find the Maya way more comfortable than the Bjorn. I love the Moby and you can hold two in it when they are very small but after about 6 weeks or so it's too hard. If you are going to get a ring-sling the heart 2 heart is better than Jolly Jumper because it is more adjustable, you can adjust the top edge, bottom edge, or middle by pulling on various parts of the tail. I haven't really managed to hold two at once in carriers, but with one in a carrier you can carry the other baby in your arms.

This web site has many types of wraps, it is a Canadian site, I bought my Moby and Maya from her. Luckily I live near her so I went in with my babies and tried them all out. www.hipbundles.com

If you can try them with your babies or a weighted doll that would be good. I also bought a DVD called tummy 2 tummy which demonstrates many different ways to use ring slings, maya wraps, mobys and pouches.

I am also interested in seeing photos of Erykah with two in carriers, your photos are so helpful!

    Good luck.

Here are the pics.. ignore the coats and blankets.. its cold out!

    Buddha Carry Facing In

    One sling belly to belly

Once dh comes in and if babies cooperate, I'll take pics of the football hold.

ETA Nevan is nursing in the second pic! Both babies love the buddha carry, but Nevan does not care for any carry positions where he has to lay down.

I get the same picture for both links; am I doing it wrong?

    Erykah, which sling is this?
