Hi all.....I haven't been on the 1-5 forum much because the twins are still 11 mos but I have a question that I'm sure some of you have experience with. I'm wanting to buy a couple outside toys for the summer for my twins......I wanted to know if there was any that you loved for your kids at the 15-16 mos range.....I just didn't want to buy something that they won't be able to use. thanks.

My girls liked any of the push/pull walking toys. For ride on, I purchased a Dora themed car from Walmart. It has a high back and a steering wheel, they just sit in the middle and push with their feet. It has tons of interactive characters on it, and they make it in different characters. There is no name on it, or I would provide that. They also have a Fisher Price car that can be a walker or you can sit on it. The hood of the car opens up, and blocks can be put in. They played with that also, I think the key for us was to have a variety. I would buy several different ones, not two of the same.

    Good luck

Mine got a couple of little ones for their first bday and they still ride them (two today) only now they know how to steer a little. They don't steer much, but that's ok!

They sell them at TRU and BRU I think! I've seen them at Walmart and Target!

We had one of these but your two are probably past this stage. We also had this one. they got a lot of use out of this one. We also had (and it's still in their room) a plush rocking horse that is also a ride on toy. You flip the wheels up or down depending on if you want them to rock or roll.

I bought one of these at a yard sale and they boys thought it was the best thing ever. They STILL play with it by pushing it around from the back. (Someone above also linked an adorable girls' version of this so you can do his and hers.) I have another similar one, too, except it has a working steering wheel (it actually turns the wheels). Early on, it was a big plus that the front wheels didn't turn since they weren't able to control it, anyway, and it kept them on a nice straight path. Later, they prefered the one with the steering wheel once they learned how to navigate.

One thing that was a flop with my guys (thank goodness I bought at a yard sale and not retail) was a cozy coupe where they sit inside and propel it "Fred Flinstone" style with their feet sticking through the bottom of the car. They both freaked because they didn't have nearly the same control as the other ride-ons and it was impossible to steer. If you have to have one make sure the grandparents pay for it so you don't waste your money [IMG].

We have four -- all bought at garage sales or hand-me-downs. One is a walk-behind push toy (meant for cruisers), but they still like it because it has toys on the front that they play with. The other three are basic ride-on toys, not too many bells & whistles, but they seem to like them all.

When they were a little younger, it was good to have one that was pretty small (they have short legs, too) -- the bigger ones were too hard for them to climb on, and when they did get on, their feet didn't reach the floor. Now they like them all interchangeably. They still are just as likely to push them by the handle as to actually ride on them. Also, one has a compartment where the seat lifts up and you can put toys in it -- that's a popular feature in our house.

So I guess my point is that it doesn't matter all that much -- they will probably like anything! Ditto the PP that you should get two different ones rather than two of the same.

My girls love the Cozy Coupes. We first got one at a yard sale -- only one. They fought so much over it that we had to hide it until we could buy two. Even then, they fought over both of them because they both wanted both cars for themselves. We also have some of the smaller cars that they sit on with a steering wheel. We keep those in the house and have the Cozy Coupes outside.

we also have the dora ride ons. they have two different ones though. they also have a disney princess and mickey mouse at target. They are so cute on them. One usually sits on it while the other one pushes her. The cutest thing about it is that they do it on their own. We've never shown them how to push each other.

Not a ride on toy, but my girls play with their babydoll strollers almost every day. we now are able to take the babies for a walk down the street and back. They also make shopping grocery carts. You could get one of each. They will play with these for several years.

For ride on toy, we got them this Farm toy at 11.5 months. They push each other on it or now self propel...
