Hello! When did you start rice cereal?? How much and how often a day did you give it? When did you start baby food then?? The doctor gave us the ok, but I read somewhere that they should be at least 13 lbs. what if my one dd is only 12 lbs.?

    Thanks,
    Jen

If your Dr says go for it try it. Mine were only 12 lbs when she told me to introduce solids. Start off with a few teaspoons mixed with formula and make it a little soupy. When they are doing good with that you can move on to the other stuff. They say start with veggies first but I did pears first.

I started the boys at 4 months but they havent become regular until just recently (almost 6 months now). Some babies arent ready until later on. They know what they want and when. Good Luck.

Most docs will recommend you to start at 4-6 months. My babies were already close to 12 pounds a little past 2 months ... We started at 4 months and didn't have any problems.

We started at 2 months for reflux issues. I gave them a tablespoon at a time. I tried to give it with each bottle, because it helped so much with their spit up issues.

My babies are 18 and 19 lbs so I started a couple of weeks ago. I started with one teaspoon of cereal per baby with lots of formula. I just do one bowl, one spoon and I put them in their bouncies (against a wall so they don't bounce) and give one a spoonful, then the other. It's fun! Now I do 5 teaspoons, still with lots of liquid, but I usually just use sterile water. I found organic brown rice cereal and it's great (by My Organic Baby). I'm going to try Barley next. Honestly, I feel YOU are the best judge of when they are ready for cereal. Mine were about 20 weeks (I tried once at 17 weeks and they weren't ready so I stopped). You can talk to every doc and read every book but your mother's intuition is the most powerful indicator of when you babies are ready for new things. I think ages like "6 months" for this or "1 year" for that are silly - how can we say that an advanced, 20 lb 5 month old should wait for food, but a tiny 6-month old should be forced to try? Anyway, just my 2 cents. Try it and if they don't seem ready wait a couple of weeks.

We started at 2 months for reflux issues. We put in in their bottles. Solid food with spoon.....4.5 months.

My babies had rice cereal from 2 weeks on for reflux, but started getting it off of a spoon at 4 months. We moved quickly to veggies and fruits because they were not big fans of plain cereal. Good luck!
