Ok so I figure this is normal but yesterday the right side of my rib cage hurt so bad. I couldn’t lift my arm or take deep breaths it was horrible. As long as I took Tylenol I could bare it but once I reached my maximum dosage I had to just suffer. Today it isn’t as bad but still tender. I am becoming accustom to weird pains but sometimes…… <_<

Call your ob and let them know. Sometimes rib pain can be associated with Pre-e. More than likely, though, it's just baby pressure. :hug99:

i notice you are 24 wks along. i had major rib pain (also on my right side, esp. toward my back) off and on from week 20-26. it was my ribs STRETCHING and it was not fun. my baby B at the time was lying transverse right across the bottom of my ribs, which didn't help! you are probably experiencing your ribs stretching too, but of course check with your OB just in case. some things that helped me- standing up and lifting my arms over my head to take the pressure off of my ribs, a heating pad on my back, warm baths, tylenol. sometimes just shifting your position can ease up the pain. good luck!

I also started to have rib pain on my right side around 24 wks (almost like a bruised rib). I know my little man (baby b, a little higher up in my uterus) is on my right side and while raising my right arm and holding my ribs with my left hand one day I felt that little angel kick me exactly where my pain was the worst. Thanks buddy! Unfortunately for me the pain has not gone away, instead of the bruised feeling it has gotten to be more of a strong pushing and dull numbness follows (but not a good feeling). Sometime when its at it worst I'll give him a little push in the opposite direction and ask nicely if he could be easy on Momma, sometimes it works, mostly it doesn't. I do find that raising my arms over my head or laying on my side with my arms on both sides up by my head helps (give us both a little more room). Hopefully the pain will get better for you, Good Luck!

I've been getting some occassional rib pain on the right for the last few days. It's tolerable and usually only requires a readjustment on my part for the pain to subside. Baby B was transverse with his feet in that direction on the last u/s I had so that might explain it. I hope the pain doesn't get any worse. Good luck! I hope you find some relief!!

OMG that was the most annoying part of my pregnancy and you definitely do not sound like you are whining. I had an u/s on that area thinking it was my gall bladder but it was just everything being pushed upward. Unfortunately it did last for a while, but it did eventually go away. I wish I had some advice but the only thing I can say is try to eat small portions. Everytime I ate too much it made it a lot worse, also try and stay regular (sorry tmi) because if i didn't it seemed to be really bad. Hang in there sweetie

I hope you're feeling better and, of course, you're not whining :). It's good to post when you're unsure.

OUCH! Oh, I had that too- I think it's worse for us twin moms! My baby B had his head stuck in my ribs for most of the pregnancy! Chances are, unfortunately, it's just their location and it's a pain you just get to deal with. :hug99: The only advice if it is just their location, is sit leaning back with a pillow behind your lower back and get yourself as straight as possible, with your feet up. However, like one of the PPs said- tell your dr and make sure they check you for Pre-E. It can be a sign of liver damage, which is really something you want to get onto early! Good luck, I hope it gets better soon!

I agree pp. It could be a sign of pre-e. It may just be the regular twin pregnancy symptom, rib cage pain! Man, did I have a bad case of that with Patrick stuck up there! But just in case you should call your OB. :hug99:

I talked to my ob yesterday and she was not concerned. She said if I have any other symptoms to call labor and delivery but from what I described she thinks it is just bruised ribs. She did say if anything abnormal comes up on my ultrasound Friday she will have me come in but otherwise she was not concerned.

    I'm having the same thing!!

I had a 4D ultrasound this week and we actually got to see my rib problem. My baby b (boy) has his head in my rib cage we watch him stretch as far as he could - just then guess what? my rib/left side started hurting really bad. the ultrasound tech rolled me over to side to help easy the pain and she rubbed my side and we watched him roll away.

My ob then told me it was my rib stretching along with my little one pushing and stretching for more room!

the fun side of having twin eh?
