Reusable Swim Diapers instead of Disposable

We have a pool in our neighborhood that we go to at least 1xday in the summer. This year the babies will be 18 months and I'm sure they'll be as crazy about the pool as our older DS was at that age and I would really like to just buy a few reusable swim diapers instead of buying the disposable ones. They just seem like such a waste to me (both for the environment and for our money) when we'll be swimming as much as we will.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for reusable swim diapers? I'd love to hear about others who have used them before I just randomly buy some.

    Thanks!! :)

We use re-usable swim diapers. They were given to us with our package when we signed up for swim lessons. They booklet we received says that the disposable swim diapers don't keep bacteria from getting into the water so that's why they require re-usable ones. Just make sure you don't get diapers that are too big b/c then they won't work.

I just purchased the IPlay reusable swimmers from BuyBuyBaby. I'm not too sure where else you can find them but they definitely do its job & it'll definitely save you money especially if you go 1+ times a day!

Well, I just reuse disposable swim diapers. They dry out fine and I reuse them

Us too! I think I heard that tip on TS!

To the OP: I've seen reusable swim diapers in Target, but I don't have any experience with them.

We purchase bathing suits from iplay that have the washable swim diapers built in. You can also purchase the swim diapers by iplay separately. I really like their product.

I actually use a little of both. If I knew that my boys had done #2 already than I would go with the washable swim diaper or not at all. They do not hold Pee in! But I always use the throw away diaper when I expect a poop to happen. I would rather toss it than have to wash it. So I used both and that has worked for me. Grandma has a pool and we swim 5 days a week!

We used the ones from Target and they were great! You can toss them through the washer & dryer with everything else. My boys never pooped in them but the leg elastic was plenty snug and I'm sure it would have contained things if they had. We also had two of the Iplay suits but ours were ruined by one accidental trip through the dryer so I wouldn't recommend them.

Yes, the iplay suits do say on them "DO NOT PUT IN DRYER" so if you purchase them, be sure to heed that advice :)

Glad you asked this! We're going to the beach for a week this summer, and we'll be at the pool and the beach all day....so I'll need to get something. I think I'll try the ones from Target. I hope they come in sizes up to 3T...

ETA -- I've seen the iPlay ones for $5.99 on kidsurplus.com.

I've never used them but there are Swim Smarties ones on OneStepAhead.com.

Thanks for all of the ideas, Everyone!!!

I had no idea you could reuse the disposables. I'll have to remember that.

I'm going to check out the Target ones and the Iplay ones. Thanks again!! :)

Yeah, I read somewhere last year that you could wash/dry the disposables. We could usually get a couple of uses out of them.
