DNA testing was totally worth it! we've been wondering if our di-di girls are identical, all the MD's said they would be faternal d/t two placentas (untrue and annoying but..) They matched 15 out of 15 DNA markers, making them identical!

now we can try for #3 with minimal fear of another set ;)

does anyone have or know of someone with two spontaneous sets of twins?

I was using clomid when I got pg with twins, although I m/c'd one around 11 wks. 18 months later I got pg again ... with spontaneous twins. No clomid, fertility drugs, ect. They absolutely do not run in my family! It's been awesome though!

Congrats on the ID results! I would love to have my girls tested.

I am currently pregnant with the remaining twin (one vanished by twelve weeks) in my second set of spontaneously conceived identical girls (both times one sac). My doctor said it is quite rare and not alot of studies have been done. He did tell me of one study (and he didn't want to compare us to mice) but said that in mice when the egg implanted upside down it always split into identical multiples and maybe that was what was going on with us. I don't know and he was as shocked as we were. I saw somewhere the chances of two sets of identicals were 1 in 75,000. I would think it would be 1 in 250 again since it's random. It's good you know for sure now though because there is definately less of a chance of multiples again than if you had frats.

Congrats on finding out! And I know of two couples with more than one set of spontaneous twins. It happens, but supposedly is rare.

That is quite exciting news! BTW I'm quite impressed that you're even contemplating a third when your babies are only 2 months.

I just had to post since it is so cool to see someone on here that I know in real life!! Yea for identical twin girls and all of the challenges and joys they will bring to our lives!

Looking forward to our first "play date" :icon_biggrin:

PS - laughed out loud about your comment about #3...clearly things must be getting easier with the girls if you can even entertain the possibility of another one :) I shocked someone at work the other day when I mentioned the possibility of a #4.
