So I'm up at 330am this morning to go to the bathroom, and then the babies decide it's time to play. I thought that at this age, they would be asleep more than awake. I didn't get more than maybe 30 minutes sleep in a row, without being woke up being kicked, poked, or just restless. It was actually a relief when the alarm went at 7am. Is anyone else experiencing an inability to sleep?

I thought that at this age, they would be asleep more than awake. I didn't get more than maybe 30 minutes sleep in a row, without being woke up being kicked, poked, or just restless. It was actually a relief when the alarm went at 7am. Is anyone else experiencing an inability to sleep? Enjoy this stage while you can! Yes, that may sound mad but when the babies are here you'll get less sleep at first, sorry to say! That thought is getting me through these final weeks!
I am working on two hours of sleep right now. Would give anything to be able to stay home and not head to the inlaws for Thanksgiving. I am exhausted. The longest I seem to sleep at one time is about two hours, then I am up to go to the bathroom...or the babies are moving, or there is the heartburn. Last night was great the babies moved so much, they had seemed to slow down for a few days and I was really worried and stressed about it, so happy to get hardly any sleep to know they are active. I can't seem to get any sleep either. Always in the bathroom. Also have this problem with "restless leg syndrome." They say there isn't anything I can do about it (just wait til the babies are born), but I would love to a night without tossing and turning. Maybe it is good training for when the babies are here Probably won't get any sleep then either...
I actually found it easier to sleep in my third trimester for some reason. hopefully you'll get some relief before the babies get here...b/c after that it might be a long time before you get 3 hours of sleep...and when you do, it'll feel like heaven. Honestly, I remember this sick thought that I had when my babies were around 6 or 7 weeks old of "wow, I got 3 hours straight!! that felt awesome...I could function like this forever..."
I can't sleep either. Most nights, I will sleep really great until about 2 a.m. and then I end up moving downstairs to the couch where I watch t.v. for about 2 hours and then, if I'm lucky, I catch 1-2 more hours of sleep. I am restless as well, also suffer from RLS during pregnancy. To top it all off, I am a stomach sleeper when not pregnant, so it kills me to not be able to sleep on my stomach. Sometimes the snoogle makes it better, but most times I just suffer through it. Fortunately, I can survive on little sleep, but I'd like to get some before the babies arrive. It's funny cuz I was just telling dh this morning that I don't think I'm the only one suffering from insomnia at this point. Happy Thanksgiving!!
What does RLS feel like? Last night I felt like I was having some sort of muscles spasms up and down my thighs all night...not cramsp, I don't know, it didn't hurt, but did keep me awake. Dianna
For me, RLS is when I just can't keep my legs still and they are not comfortable in any position. It causes me to toss and turn all night and sometimes I have to get up and walk around a little to calm it down. My hips also get sore if I lay on one side for too long, so that makes me turn a lot too, which is not an easy task!!
I felt like I never got a good nights sleep for a long time while I was pregnant. I think it prepares you for after the babies are here.
im glad i read this post and im not the only one. the last week or so i get up to go to the bathroom, wake up because i can feel my acid reflux coming up through my throat, have the babies kicking me in my side im laying on, my hips hurt if stay in one spot to much, and ive been waking up at least 2x a night with BH and have to drink lots of water and take a deep breathe hoping the sharp pain will go away in my lower tummy and that i can sleep again. I just tell myself that im preparing for them. lol. i told my spouse that i think i will never get a 8hr sleep night for a VERY VERY long time and i havent got one since about month 2 or 3. i use a body pillow and try to limit my water intake close to when im going to bed, but nothin helps lol...hope all of us ladies get alittle sleep before all our babies come. we all see to be roughly around the same stage right now GOOD LUCK ladies!!
I had a hard time sleeping twards the end of my pregnancy and you hate to think about it but it dosent get much better when the babies are born, we were up every hour for a few months the only time we could sleep was when my parents came to our house and watched babies while we took a nap. when they were 7 months old they finally slept thru the night and we could get regular sleep again. Sorry i know how that sounds but remember it goes by very fast and i would love to go back to getting no sleep to hold the little babies again. Soak it up
Ugh, yes, sleeping has been so hard for me, especially the last week. When I lie on my right side, my shoulder hurts so badly, on my left side, my sciatic nerve gets all pinched, and I'm so congested all the time I can't breathe through my nose I don't drink fluids after 7 pm any more which helps a little bit with all the bathroom trips but I still go four times a night, at least. I have to say, when the babies start kicking at 4 am it actually makes me smile. I have to laugh at their little soccer dance or stomp dancing because it reminds me that all this sleep deprivation is so worth it
I remember that when I was pregnant. I would wake at 3 am every night and would not be able to get back to sleep. And now I still dont get any sleep. I am waiting for the day when my two sleep more than a couple of hours at a time.
I have RLS too and I heard it can be related to anemia--I am slightly anemic and anxious to get some iron pills to see if it makes a difference.
Yep, I started taking iron supplements and it eliminated the RLS! I actually think that I got more sleep once the babies arrived. I know that sounds insane, but I did!
I hate to say it, but it may be about a year! I experienced an awful inability to sleep while pregnant, and my girls just started sleeping in 5-6 hour stretches last month. I'm sorry, sweetie!
Ahh well, I could hope! I've actually been sleeping a little better this last week or so. Even 6 hours makes a world of difference
