My two are still a little wobbly in their sitting by themselves but have outgrown their infant car seats. Are they too young for those typical wooden highchairs at restaurants? They sit fine in their home high chairs but those have 5-point seat belts. I don't know if the restaurant highchairs have any kind of belt. Is there some sort of insert I should get - not for cleanliness or toys but so that they can have more support? Or is there any booster seat that would make sense? Holidays are coming and we'll need to be able to do the restaurant thing!

Practice makes perfect mama! We started using the restaurant chairs about a month ago, and yeah they wobble a bit sometimes but they are getting much better about it.

I like to use the floppy seat, it not only keeps them from chewing/touching the germy part of the chair, but it also helps support them because it's so squishy around them! :D

I only have one right now, but my second seat should be here this week! Can't wait!

I put mine in the restaurant high chairs as soon as they were sitting up. Those chairs do have straps so they won't fall out of the chair and I just kept an eye on them/kept them close to me.

Most do have straps & you could always take a blanket to pack around them for a bit of support if you need to.

Like the other Mommy's said, practice makes perfect. I just started putting my girls in the restaurant highchairs a month ago or so. One has it down pat, and the other almost does. They do wobble and topple, but we keep them close so we can situate them again as needed.

I'm more worried about the germs now. I carry lots of disinfectant wipes in the diaper bag and they get used a lot!!!

Good luck. I know what you mean about the carseats just being too heavy to lug around!

I agree practice makes perfect but I use these chairs now...no concern about germs bc they are my own and they are a deep seat so the boys can't climb onto the table

I got one of the restaurant high chairs for use at home... and I wanted to add a tip about how I found to use the strap... I pull it from behind and clip it around their waist in a "U" shape from behind them. When I use the straps from the sides and just have it go across their lap my dd seems to be able to wiggle free.

    good luck.
