I have prepared a general letter requesting coupons and/or special offers from a handful of baby companies that have multiple birth programs... however, is it safe to mail copies of the babies birth certificates to all of these companies?

Did anyone else do this? If so, did you black out any info on your certs or just mail in photo copies?

Ok, I just noticed that Pampers & Luvs both want hospital discharge papers... is that 'safer' to mail in than birth certs?

I also saw this when looking for freebies... we are not comfortable giving that information out because you just don't know whose hands those are going into. I would love some freebies but just not sure about giving that info out to strangers.

Most places want copies of birth certificates. That's one of the reasons I haven't gone after a lot of the offers. ID theft is at a all time high. You just never know who's hands these papers are going into and what they're doing with them later on. I did send my info to Similac but that's it. Part of it is just sheer exhaustion and like I need one more thing to do and another is the ID theft concern.
