    Hi Mommies,

Me again with Q's about C-sections...Sorry to drive you guys nuts about this topic.
I have read and been told gas pains are the worst. I have read that Tea helps relieve the pains as well as walking. Any other ideas on a less painful recovery? If you have been through it, what helped? I have been told by my aunt (who ran a 5K 3 weeks after a C) to used frozen peas and ice packs on the incision areas.

Anyhow.. Input is great if you have any.

I may not be much help but I remember my OB telling me to use something over the counter for gas relief along with a stool softener. When I thought the gas had gone down and bm's had returned to normal I stopped (I just hate popping pills, although she told me to use it for a while). NOT a good decision at all. The gas came back instantly, along with bloating and constipation and constipation after a c-section has to be worse than delivery! So my best advice to you is take whatever they tell you to take for relief and keep it up until they tell you to stop.

They gave me meds too... if you are not passing enough gas they will make you take meds to help break up the gas bubbles... I do think it helped me...but the biggest thing is just to get up and walking to get it out... the first day is the worst b/c you can't be up and walking... I should say the second day really... the first 24 hours were bliss for me b/c of something they stuck in my spinal..didn't feel a single pain or discomfort the whole first day... I have heard about tea...mint I think... but I'm not a big fan of tea! I brought some and had them make it, but I couldn't get down more than half a cup anyway!

They gave me some meds, don't remember the name either, but I told them I had bad gas pains and whatever they gave helped a lot. I also ended up having a suppository and that helped TREMENDOUSLY, sorry, TMI but I farted for like a half-hour!!! :D When I started walking around that helped too.

They gave me something at the hospital too, I don't know what it was. Ask about it as soon as you think of it if they don't mention it first!

I had major gas after the twins' csection. I looked preggers after 2 weeks even. Is that what you mean? I had no tips. I finally figured out it was gas and realized (sorry if this is TMI) this was gas in my abdomen... and that squats were the best way to work it out...  The squats pressed it out of my belly...

They usually give you gas pills at the hospital (Simethicone) which is also called Mylcon (used for baby's gas relief too). I actually bought extra OTC Simethicone pills (generic brand) and brought them to the hospital with me for back-ups. ;) You can take them when you get home too, and they are really helpful. Good luck! :D
