Hey everyone! I’m a freelance writer juggling different projects every week — blog posts, product descriptions, small scripts, even social media captions. Each client has their own strict word requirements, and honestly, keeping track of it all is becoming a headache. The counters built into some editors are either slow, inaccurate, or act weird when you paste formatted text. A few days ago, I submitted a piece that was supposed to be exactly 1,000 words, and the client came back saying it was only around 870. I checked again in three different tools and got three different results, which felt like some kind of cruel joke.
So I’m looking for a simple, accurate online word counter that isn't overloaded with ads or unnecessary features. Something I can open quickly during a project, paste my text, and instantly see the real numbers—no glitches, no lagging, no registration nonsense. Ideally it should work smoothly on my phone too, since I often edit drafts while commuting or waiting between meetings. If you’ve used something personally and it saved your workflow, please share! Stories, recommendations, even funny experiences with broken counters are welcome.

Hey! I totally get your pain — inconsistent word counts used to mess up my freelancing routine too. I once had a client who wanted every article between 1,300 and 1,350 words, and my old editor nearly cost me the project because it kept miscounting. After that, I started testing a bunch of online tools until I found one that actually worked the way I needed.
Try this word counter one It’s clean, super fast, and doesn’t bother you with pop-ups or sign-ups. You just paste your text and it gives you accurate word, character, and sentence counts instantly. I’ve used it for everything — long-form articles, short ad copy, even scripts — and it handles all of them without lagging or messing up the numbers. It also works great on mobile, which is a huge lifesaver when you’re working on the go. Honestly, it’s become a permanent tool in my workflow.
