When did you introduce regular milk to your twins? They are turning one in a couple of weeks and they have started rejecting thier formula. I tried a cup of regular milk - but they kinda threw it down too- maybe because it was cold or taste different? When and how did you introduce it?

Our pedi told us to wait until after their 12 month wbv (which was a week after their birthday). We are in the process of switching over to milk, but are dealing with some issues with the transition (spitting up and constipation). If you pedi didn't tell you to wait (at your 9 month appointment), I'd think that you could try to mix the two together (formula and milk) to start the transition. Was the formula milk-based? GL!

We've started milk in the last few weeks. I just gave them a mix of formula/milk in their sippy cups with meals. They are now on just milk, no formula (but I'm still BF'ing 2x a day). I would just give all their regular meals/bottles and think of the sippy cups of milk as just extra until they are really getting a significant amount each day. At least that's what's working for us!

We started milk just over 11 months (after an okay from the pedi). We went totally cold turkey from formula and bottles one morning to sippies with milk that afternoon. I got rid of all bottles at once because I figured with my fussier baby if she had a choice, she would choose the one she is most comfortable with. We went through a couple of days of them not drinking a lot, but it picked back up after a little bit of time.

My ped recommends 9 months. They were not interested in their formula much at that time, so I did 1/2 and 1/2 formula/milk for a few days and then just switched them over completely. They liked it much better than the formula.

I switched one of mine at about 12 months (before his well check)...we were getting low on his formula and I did not want to buy another can of it. The other had a milk allergy so we waited until we got the go ahead from the Ped GI and that was about 12.5 months.

I also started after they turned one and did it gradually by replacing one oz of their room temp formula with one oz of cold milk every 1-2 days. They didn't even notice. One problem we ran into though was that they ended up drinking too much milk and got constipated. I had to cut down the milk to up to 16 oz a day, which is the recommended amount. I replaced their other sippies with watered down juice and then gradually watered down the juice even more until they were just drinking water.
