regular instant oatmeal

When can they start having regular instant oatmeal - like the Quaker stuff?

 

I think I got the plain stuff closer to the end of the first year but they didnt care for it.

 

I think that nutritionally they are equal, so I don't see why you couldn't give it to them now. If it's too lumpy for them you could probably stick it in the blender.

 

I've been doing it for a little while now (about a 1 1/2 months) and my kids are almost 5 months. I make them all different flavors and whatnot. They really enjoy it!

 

I think once they've moved onto the more textured food, the regular oatmeal was fine. I don't think I would do it at nearly 5 months but I think at your babies age it would be more than fine! Mine liked cream of wheat or grits better than oatmeal.

 

The boys loved instant oatmeal with all the fruit flavors and we started that around the 10 month mark. If you've started giving "lumpier/chunkier" food then instant oatmeal shouldn't be a problem.

 

We tried it today because the Gerber oatmeal is getting so expensive. I mixed it with Gerber 2nd's fruit and both Max & Lily spit out the oatmeal, but ate the fruit. Only my kids . I thought the regular oatmeal would save on money, but I think it is still too course for them and they are almost 13 months. I may try to grind the oatmeal in the blender like someone suggested.
