I pt'd the girls about a month ago. Zoe was trained in 3 days - just started doing it to our amazement. We were getting ready to night train because she is always dry and from day 1 has napped diaper free as well as made car trips - even our 90 min trip she did brilliant. (Jude I put back in Diapers and will try again soon - she physically is ready but it was obvious she could care less) So here we are around a month later and the last two days she has not only not mentioned she had to go potty (and then went and did it) but had several accidents. It is like suddenly we went straight 100% backwards. Anyone had this happen? She looks at me blankly with that little attitude stare and says, "I pee pee'd on the floor." At first I was pretty sure she had gotten overly confident so we hit the part where she didn't want to stop playing and it became too late. It has never worked for me to set a timer with her or insist she try...she has driven this whole process on her time table and it has worked until now. In fact, until now it was like she was a 10 year old just using the potty as she needed, less and less frequently as each week has passed...she understands how to hold it even. So I want to handle this delicately. I thought about just passing it off as nothing and hope for it to blow over. DH keeps telling her it is okay but we should try to get to the potty. I am confused. Thoughts?

I was just discussing this same thing with another mother at my pre-school. Her DD has been PT for 5-6 months and she said once or twice her daughter has regessed twice for about two days. Apparently you're supposed to ignore it...blank face, no words, simply walk her to the bathroom change her with no words or expression. Eventually they aren't getting they payoff they are hoping for.

Alice regressed for about three months. I had to retrain her basically. Good luck!

I agree with not making too big of a deal about it. Give it a few days & see if it is just a passing thing. Hopefully it is & she will be back on the potty trained wagon soon!

That is when I turned to bribes. My kids got one M and M or skittle when they went. Nothing too big but helped them want to go in a try when asked if they needed to go. Not force, but just ask. We also trained just past 2.

I do agree with ignoring it, but I do wonder if getting her to clean it up with you may help too. It goes under, you clean up your own messes and that includes potty messes. It's also possible having to put more work into dealing with the mess will encourage her to use the potty more as well.
