Last night I was going along fine when I decided to bend over for something and OUCH!!! My lower back was killing me. I couldn't bend. If I was just upright it didn't seem to bother me. I went to put my DS in his crib (had the side down, so it wasn't even that far of a bend) and had to call my DH up because I couldn't go any further w/o feeling like I was going to break at the waist.
This morning it is tons better but when I bend I can feel a little pressure, if that makes any sense. Anyway, finally to my question  is there a difference btwn just a backache and back pain related to PTL? If so, what is it?

    TIA!
    Jenn

Back pain was my first sign of PTL. It was dull but then I noticed I was having regular tightenings along with the ache. Fotunately I was a my regular checkup when it started getting bad. They put me in the hospital right then and there.

I was on bedrest for the last 9 weeks of pregnancy, so I definitely had problems with backaches. To me, a backache associated with a contraction is a crampy feeling that goes from back to front, and coincides with belly tightening. It feels like a really bad menstrual cramp with tightening.

Thanks ladies. It sounds like I must just be having a good ole' backache b/c I haven't had any signs of tightening in my belly. I will certianly pay close attention for that though.
WHEW! I have a feeling I am going to be wore out by the time this pregnancy is over with! :)

I am a witness to a backache sooo bad that you dont know if its preterm labor, a twin pregnancy is so much different and scarier than a singleton.
