Until yesterday my babies drank their bottles peacefully. Sometimes they finished 4,5 or 3 oz. a feeding. Yesterday and today they are pretty unhappy drinking their bottles and refusing them. When I take the bottle out of their mouths they are not fussy or crying. What could this be. I thought maybe reflux, but would that make sense that it started now? Please help. Thank you.

How often do you feed them? Could it be that they are ready for longer stretches between bottles?

One of my girls did this and she ended up having an ear infection. I was surprised because she had no symptoms, was not fussy, etc. Just not eating.

I feed them every three hours by day. Maybe I ill try to stretch it. I will wait and see if they are still fussy I will check their ears.

Could it be time to switch to a faster nipple? That's what we did when the boys started acting like that (at right about the same time, too). Might be worth a try!

One of mine started doing this too. It's so frustrating. She used to be such a good little eater but now she fights the bottle. She was recently put on reflux meds and I honestly don't think that's the problem. We tried to switch to a faster nipple but she screamed at that, probably because of the nipple shape change (we had to change brands because we were still using the nipples from the NICU).

I am thinking mine is ready to stretch her feedings a bit.

How is yours refusing? Mine turns her head to the side. But the weird thing is, she'll accept the nipple again and again, but she continues to turn her head to spit it out!

I am also going to try stretching the time. The girls cry until I take the bottle out and they aslo keep taking it again and again, but as soon as the milk hits their mouths they cry. Then when I put a paci in they are fine.

I don't mean to bring up an old topic, but my DD is doing the EXACT same thing and is the same age. She acts like she wants it and then spits it out or turns her head the minute I place the nipple in her mouth. It is like she wants to sip it instead of suck on it. I really cannot figure out what is up with her. She has neer been a huge eater but this is getting ridiculous. She is maybe eating 3oz. at a time. She waits three hours to eat but than acts like she is starving. I cannot figure it out...teething? reflux?

I'm glad we're not the only ones going through this! She drinks about 3-4 ounces (she is 2 months adjusted and weighs nearly 10 pounds). So if I get her to "concentrate" for lack of a better word, she does fine. My PT told me yesterday that she thought it was reflux, and her just taking a break. I'm going to ask my pedi about it in a few weeks if it continues.

I did switch her nipple again, though, and she seems to be doing better. I started using the NUK bottles, which is the same pacifier that she uses. I think she likes it better now, although she was doing just fine on the other one until now!

Let me know if you find out anything and I will do the same. I hope both of them cut it out, because it's so frustrating!
