My babies are currently on a 3-hour feeding schedule. One of them has confirmed reflux (I suspect the other one has too but it's not so bad). Anyways, I was wondering when your babies moved to a 4-hour feeding schedule? It seems like I'm feeding them all day since I feed them one at a time but I'm scared to move them to a 4-hour schedule since they may take fewer ounces than they already are taking. Also, how did you feed them at the same time if you do? On another note...I haven't done much tummy time since they've been spitting up quite a lot because of the reflux. How do you do this? Argghh! Reflux is so frustrating! TIA.
Hi Marie! Yes, reflux is SOOOO frustrating! Regarding the feeding schedule...My refluxers were on a 3 hour schedule until they were 8 months old. I did feed them both at the same time though. I have actually heard 2 stories regarding this 1. feeding them lesser amounts more often is better and 2. feeding them less often is better because they have more time to digest. I tend to believe the first one. Tummy time...it's hard to believe but tummy time can actually help to lessen the spit-up over time. Somehow it strengthens that valve that keeps the food down.
Never. Mine are 5 months and they still eat every 3 hours between 7 and 7. They sleep through the night though. I don't expect they'll ever do a 4-hour schedule. They drink 5 eight-oz bottles a day. Both have reflux, one takes medication for it. It seems to be under control. Maybe when we starts solids they'll go longer but I'm not holding my breath.
Hello! My twin girls also suffer from bad reflux. One is on Pepcid and the other on Prevacid. They used to eat every 3 1/2 hours, but one daughter got so bad with not eating that currently she eats every 2 hours, UGHHHH! Talk about crazy. I also find it hard to feed both at the same time. I tried putting them in bouncy seats, but they are such fussy eaters that it is nearly impossible. Let me know what has worked for you? How old are your twins? Thanks, Jen
I can't feed them at the same time no matter how hard I try - they're just too fussy. A couple of times it has worked first thing in the morning because they wake up too hungry to fuss, but other than that it's just one after the other.
we fed both and still do at the same time..when tiny in their boppies and now in their councy seats..I use a thick blanket to prop one bottle while I burp the other..I know no propping but with twins it's not easy any other way and you don't leave them alone... My guys have reflux pretty bad (just took the other guy off his meds as a trial 2 days ago and it seems to be ok..so far so good) and we moved them to a 4 hr schedule at 4 motnths...they started to take less of their bottles so I changed it and it worked...they weren't cranky between bottles and they drank more of their bottles As for tummy time, I just put a blanket under them to catch anything..they seemed to feel better on their bellies anyway
