Ok, I'm not sure what this could be and I'm hoping it's not chicken pox

A couple days ago I noticed a couple sores on Connor. They were red - looked like a small mosquito bite or pimple. I showed DH and we both shrugged it off. We had seen a couple ants in the basement and thought maybe a couple bit him while he was playing on the carpet (we've since sprayed...).

Well, today Connor woke up from his nap with about 6 on one side of his face - 1 on the other. 1 on his right hand, 4 on his other arm/wrist and 3 on his left knee. They are super itchy and when he scratches them, they swell like a mosquito bite would.

He does not have a fever
They are not blisters - as far as I can see they don't look fluid filled, but more like a small bug bite.

I thought maybe something got him when he was napping but how could something bite his face - go to an arm and hands and then down his pants to get his leg? I checked his bed and there was nothing in it.

The Dr's office suggested giving him an antihistamine (sp?) and to wait it out.

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Alex had something similar though I don't think it itched him. We determined it was a heat rash. My MIL had moved something that was blocking the heat from hitting him so the heat started hitting him full force and he got red bumbs ALL over his body. It was so scary when we saw it.

You may want to change his sheets too and maybe vacuum or spray the mattress. He could have bed bugs, I don't think you can see bed bugs, or dust mites. If he's allergic to dust then they bites might appear worse than on someone who's not.

I hope this helps. Good luck and I hope Conner feels better and stops itching. That's got to stink. :(

Has he been outside near plants/greenery? Could it be poison ivy? I just went through it, and it sounds like the same little bumps.

Chicken pox cycle is red then to blister within 24 hours. They generally start on the tummy or back and then spread to limbs. WE had the lovely experience last Winter! I think the benedryl is a good idea. It helps with itching for any rash

Do you have pets? They could bring in poison on their fur or some kind of biting insect? That would be my first though! Poor guy :( I would give him an Aveeno (oatmeal) bath to help with the itching and an antihisthamine. I hope they go away quickly!

Here is apic of the VERY mild case of chicken pox that Reagan got as a reaction to the chicken pox vaccine. We did take her to the pedi and it was "diagnosed" as chicken pox. She only ended up with 6 pox and no real "illness" to go along with it.

Just thought I would post a pic so maybe you can compare to you son.

Do you have any pets? Sometimes flea bites swell up like that. A friend of mine once had a bunch of flea bites on her legs that looked like your description. I hope you find the source soon and that he feels better.
