    Hi,

One of my boys has tiny red spots on his face soon after starting solid foods. Could it be allergy to some kind of food. I am mixing him with his cereals a boiled apple with a fresh mashed banana. With the understanding that his brother is eating the same food and no spots have appeared on his face.

Should I worry? or it's normal?

    Thanks a lot.

The only way to know for sure is to stop feeding him the cereal for a few days and see if they go away. What kind of cereal has he been eating?

Are the spots on the entire face or just around his mouth on the cheeks? Maybe he has a more sensitive skin and it's irritated from the food. Usually the apple and banana are well tolerated. I don't know about cereal. Did you start cereal, apple and banana at the same time, or you introduced them gradually, like a new food every 3-4 days? This way you can see if the rash is from a new food you introduced.
Mine have an irritated skin, like little red bumps, but I think it's from the food that's all over their faces when they eat and from all that drooling.

Yep, I agree with Tina. I would stop feeding him the food and see if it clears up. If it does, then he is probably having some sort of reaction to either the cereal, the apple, or the banana.

Does he suck/chew on his thumb/fingers? I thought the same thing about DD, but turned out it was contact dermatitis from teething (she was chewing on her hand and kept her face "wet").

Yes he does exactly what you're saying. could be pretty much the cause because when I introduced him to solids same food 3 weeks ago no spots appeared on his face for about 2 weeks. On the other hand, his face is always wet from sucking thumb and chewing on his fingers. How did you treated the dermatitis for your daughter? I am thinking now that the spots appeared even at his forehead, not only around his month and cheeks. Is this what happened with your DD as well?

Moreover, regarding the cereals I am using him "Bledina" which I think is not available in the US. I don't know whether it's the cause of the spots. I was on rice cereals after 2 weeks I tried Multicereal. It's quite confusing I don't know whether the spots appeared before or after I switched to the multicereals.

Anyhow, on Wednesday I have an appointment with the Ped, I'll see what she has to say about this.

Thanks a lot for your kind replies.

Hers was really just around her mouth. I didn't do anything for it, but the option my pedi gave me is to coat it with a thin layer of vaseline to protect it.
