Ok ladies, i had my twins the hard way- on vaginal and one by emergency c-section. I am feeling pretty good atthis point - 2 weeks postpartum- but was wondering how long it took for you "flow" to stop? Mine is still bright red, just not as heavy as it was- but still like a menstral cycle. Also, my incision from the c-section is the only part of my tummy still sore and it itches like crazy! This is normal right? Just wondering. I read in the "What to expect" book that your flow shouldnt be red after the 4th day that it should be pink ?/ I started back my birth control pills Sunday also- and it hasnt help stop the flow yet :(
    Sorry if TMI

The bleeding will last longer because your uterus got bigger during this pregnancy than it would for a singleton.... I think I bled for 6-8 weeks. (fuzzy brain, lack of sleep!) It's normal for your incision to itch (mine itches at this very moment in time ) It's not normal for it to ooze yucky stuff or be red.

I aggree with Jenny. I was also told by one of my docs that your tummy will never feel the same again after a c-sec. If there is a lot of pain to the point where you need to take your pain meds still quite frequently then I would call your doc. That happened to me with my first and I woke up in a large pile of blood on the bed. I ended up having a large hemotoma (about the size of a basketball) that ruptured and reopened my inscision. Anyways, so if there is still a lot of pain then call.

Also, my incision itched for a long time and still occassionally does. I hope you feel better soon!!

I have never heard of taking birth control before your cycle returns?

Another full birth experience here and I bled for 6 weeks, was just stopping at my check up. I did notice it slowed when I took it easier and was heavier when I over did it. My cycle came back at about 10 weeks I believe so I did have some time between bleedings!

Itchy means healing doesn't it? Sorry, I don't remember my incision itching but that is what I always tell the children when their boo boos get itchy.

I bled for about 3 weeks after delivery (vaginal) and then 2 weeks later got my first PP AF.

I was wondering the same thing..This was my frist c-section..I bled for 4 weeks, then stop for about a week..Then I started to spot for a day, then a couple day later I had a very heavy, bright red cycle..So I'm thinking this must be my period..Then a week later, I started spotting for a couple of days and then had a medium DARK cycle..and it still hasnt stopped as of today..So is this normal????? With my other births I just bled for about 5 weeks and that was it..
