Do any of you have some good recipes for fruit smoothies. My twins will not drink milk but do love smoothies. I have been buying the Yo Baby smoothies but they are pricey and i am sure i could make them at home. Is it basically just fruit, milk, and yogurt? Or what?
    thanks for your help!

Fruit, yogurt, milk or juice. You definitely need some liquid, but otherwise, you can add just about anything even veggies if you like. I always include bananna.

    I like:
Bananna, strawberry, apple, vanilla yogurt, and milk
Watermelon, bananna, vanilla yogurt, and milk
Strawberry, kiwi, bananna, vanilla yogurt, and milk

    Enjoy!

we don't use a recipe, just throw stuff in.

fruit (like pp said, banana is in all of them staple)
milk, juice, ice, yogurt, frozen yogurt, or (special treat) ice cream
    wheat germ
    flax seed oil

I do milk and frozen fruit, plus some yogurt. About 7 oz. of milk, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of frozen fruit, and one 4-oz. container of yogurt turns out well.

For my older DD, I throw in whey protein powder, vitamin C powder, and probiotics (she has a smoothie for breakfast every day).

LOVE my Magic Bullet for this!

This sounds like such a great idea! I am having such a hard time getting my 16 month olds to eat any fruit these days.

One question for those of you with younger kids - how do you serve it to them? Just in a sippy cup? Or is the smoothie too thick for that?

I may try this for my son. Do you think fresh fruit would work as well? I will add pediasure instead of milk bc he needs the fats. I can't wait to try this, I bet he will love it. We have a tropical smoothie cafe near us and I usually get him one from there, but this will be way cheaper!

    Thanks for the ideas!!

For little ones, they work fine in a straw sippy -- I haven't tried regular sippy cups, but that probably wouldn't work as well.

Yep, fresh fruit -- or anything else you want! -- would work fine. I just like the texture that frozen fruit gives (and it's much easier to use when I'm half asleep in the mornings, LOL -- I buy the big bags of the Whole Foods 360 brand) -- you could do fresh fruit and a little ice, or even ice cream if you wanted to add fat.

My boys haven't really had "milk" alone. Dr. wants them to have Carnation Instant Breakfast in it for added calories. You may want to try that too. I just use vanilla. It thickens the milk a little and would probably be quick and easy (if they like it that is). Good luck!
