Hey Ladies, thought I would ask her since so many of you have young babies...

I'm 16 days post-partum here and still bleeding. It stops for a few days then picks back up again..red, not just brown...enough to need an actual pad. Today I started losing clots again. I just lost one that was pretty big...it was weird almost reminded me of what the umbilical cord would have looked like. This is just freaking me out. I'm not bleeding through multiple pads in an hour or anything, so I don't think I'm hemorraging...but is this normal??? anyone remember losing clots after 2weeks post-partum? Everytime I start bleeding again I start really hurting down there again....not cramping, but just aching down there.

It sounds normal as long as you are not getting bright red blood and clots bigger than a golf ball, not bleeding thru more than one pad per hour. There is 9mo worth of stuff coming out. sorry TMI but I bled off and on for the first 5 weeks, more when I was overdoing it, then at 6weeks I got my period and it was BAD. :shok: I called the Dr. on call at the hospital I was so freaked out.

I bled pretty heavily pp and a week after I started passing big clots and soaking pads with bright red blood so I went to the ER. I was retaining my placenta and had to have a D & C that day. It was a bummer, but I had a feeling something wasn't right. Call the doc and get checked out if you don't feel right about it. The doc told me that day on the phone it was normal, but I didn't think the huge clots were. I'd be more worried if the clots are huge, the bleeding should be normal.

I passed a bunch of clots for about 2-3 weeks along with some heavy bleeding. I bled for almost 6 weeks on and off but the clots stopped after about week 3 for me.

If it is at all heavy, I would see your doctor. I had normal PP bleeding and then at 3 weeks woke up at 4AM in a pool of blood in bed. It was pouring out of me as if a faucet had been turned on. I had to travel by ambulance to a hospital (I was out of state visiting my father at the time who was sick and dying in a different hospital). Anyway, like other prior poster, I ended up needing DC and they were threatening a hysterectomy...but I told them NOOOOOOOOOO). Anyway, all okay now.

My sister calls it the "crime scene" weekend because the cleaning up was o so bad...we laugh about it now, but it wasn't funny at the time. I needed 6 units of blood.

I don't mean to scare you but keep an eye on it. I had no reason to suspect anything odd but it happened to me.

With both my pregnancies, I bled for about 6-9 weeks and then got AF about two weeks after I was done with pp bleeding. Sounds normal to me, but if you are getting any major pain with it, I would call my OB. :hug99:

I also bled for a long time, at least 6 weeks, with all of my deliveries, complete with clots(ick!). You might have done too much today, and that is why the bleeding picked back up again. Try to take it easy...I know easier said than done! :hug99: If in doubt though, call your doc.

Like most of the pp I bled for over 6 weeks straight. Then a week after it stopped I got my period for a week and it was very heavy and I had a lot of cramping. However if you are at all concerned call your doctor. GL and congratulations!

i've been bleeding for 10 weeks now, but i did get the mirena iuc at 6 wks pp. that may or may not be the reason for me. you should probably expect at least another 2 wks and my doc told me some clots were normal during the first month or so.

I had a c-section. I bled for 7.5 weeks, then a little more during my 8th week. Seems very normal to me! I was thinking to myself that this more than makes up for all the missed periods of when I was pregnant!

I'm still bleeding off and on. With occasional clots, but they aren't real big.
