The other day when I was getting dd dressed for bed, I noticed a very clear bite mark on her shoulder. Ds does bite, off & on, and I hadn't realized he'd started it again. Then just this morning, I was in the bathroom & heard horrible screaming......I ran to see what happened & ds literally had dd pinned on the floor, biting her back. She had about a 3 inch area that was just red as could be & looked like welts!! Then he bit her twice again today! My poor little girl is just bruised! I put a fleece jacket on her, hoping the extra padding would protect her but she's at that stage of wanting to take all her clothes off & on, so the jacket didn't stay on long.

I'm at my wit's end & don't know what to do. My sil told me I should bite him back, but it just feels so mean. On the other hand, my daughter is covered in bruises & bite marks.

I know he has a hard time communicating, but I was watching all this morning & that didn't seem to be it. He also has a short temper, but it didn't seem like he was really biting from anger. Maybe teething, I don't know.

Chloe has just started doing this when she doesn't get her way or when Bryce makes her mad. She's given him two big welts in the past two days as well. I personally have gotten down on her level, looked her in the eyes and said "NO - biting is not nice, we don't bite" very sternly, then removed her from the room. I don't think they're old enough yet to get time-out, but I'm trying to do the next best thing by removing her and being consistent with my tone.

Dealing with that here too. My daughter bites her sister a lot too, but not consistently. Meaning that they can play for hours without any sign of violence. But then, all of a sudden, she'll strike! I'm talking days will pass with no biting, and then she lays into her. She even tried to bite me two days ago. And she's very particular about her target area. She wanted to bite me on my forearm and I pulled it away and she "chased" it with her mouth wide open until she got it. I also sternly said, "No biting!" and I put her in her chair. Unfortunately, I don't think she got why.

She also head butts! I know that it's all out of pure frustration and I HAVE noticed that it's usually at the end of an awake time wherein she is starting to get tired. But her sister has never bitten her. So strange. Little savages......

Brandon is biting. I made it through with the twins without to many problems. William bit Nathan a few times, but learned quickly that ended up in a timeout. His biting was never unprevoked though (did i mention Nathan is a bully). Brandon will be hugging you and suddenly you get this painful biting sensation. This is a lot harder to discipline for me because he is biting out of love. I do bite back (not hard just enough to understand the ouchy part when I tell him "no ouchie").

Just a suggestion. This is something my friend used for their daughter. The parents would spray binaca mouth spray in her mouth when she would bite. They only sprayed her mouth with it a couple of times before she stopped biting. I don't know what binaca feels like in the mouth. I would likely try it on myself before using it. Just a thought.

Nicky bites when he is teething and gets mad.

I flick him in the mouth with my fingers and tell him no. It hurts and he will stop when he sees me watching. But he has such a quick temper! It's really just impulse, but that doesn't make it OK. As soon as that annoying tooth pops through, he stops until the next starts up again. My 3 yr old was a biter, too. He eventually outgrew it (yeah, when all his teeth were finally in). Doesn't save the victim much, though.
