I am in dire need of some reflux remedies. I already eat Tums/Rolaids more often than I would like, stay away from acidic/carbonated stuff, don't eat too late, and try to elevate after meals. No matter what I have been suffering for the past two weeks and if this is anything like my last pregnancy it will not get any better. I mean it is sooo bad that sometimes drinking water gives me reflux ;) Did anybody take anything prescription or have any special home remedies that work? I would greatly appreciate it.

150mg Zantac (can be bought OTC now or you can get the prescription generic of Ranitidine) - I STILL take it becuase the AR I had with the twins never went away! Also too, either Gaviscon (get the cherry because the original seriously tastes like puke) or Maalox Max (cherry flavored also) works great!

I posted this exact post about 3 weeks ago so I know how you feel :hug99: You probably don't want to hear this, but nothing worked for me and no matter how well or early I ate how high I elevated myself it never went away... So I have just kinda gotten used to my throat and chest being on fire :icon_biggrin: I asked my doctor to pleeeease help he said take tums  Hope it gets better...

Prevacid was a life saver for me!!! I had it 24/7...couldn't eat b/c it was that bad. Went in for an NST, and asked what I could do for it. They perscribed Prevacid for me and worked like a charm. As long as I took everyday, I had not one issue with heartburn.

I was given these little Pepcid tablets (I don't know if it was prescription or OTC as I was in the hospital on bedrest), and that helped immensely. I took them twice a day, and occasionally, I would pop a Tums.

I found that taking Zantac 150mg on a schedule really helped. I take it every day at 6am and 6pm - regardless of whether I actually have heartburn at that moment. I only have to supplement with Tums maximum strength a couple times per week, which is a lot less than when I was taking the same Zantac dose on a less regular schedule.

I use a combo of Rolaids and slippery elm bark lozenges...the slippery elm coats your esophagus and stomach.

I tried pepcid, tums and zantac before my OB prescribed me nexium. That has been my lifesaver! It took a few days to really take effect, but it was sooo worth it.

Thanks for all your suggestions!! I started Prilosec OTC a couple of days ago and it has been a lifesaver. I am going to ask my OB at the next appt. about a precription because Prilosec you only take for 2 weeks or so. Thanks again.
