My 4 month old has a raw streak along the crease of his neck. Has anyone ever had this happen and how did you treat it?

Hi! I have the same problem with my twins. It's very common and mostly happens when milk dribbles down off their face onto their neck. It doesn't look good does it :[ ? I treat my kids rash with Aveeno and it disappears in hours! Goodluck!

We had the same issue with my girls and it also smelled pretty bad. I made sure to use a warm wet cloth to rinse their chin/neck area after a bottle and dry it up with a dry cloth. It was a pain but it prevented this.

You can put Desitin, Aquafor or any other creamy (not gritty, like Butt Paste) rash cream under there and it'll clear up quickly. Also, make sure that you wash and dry under there really well (if you can, mine are squirmy!) at bath time. :)

during the day I wipe their necks with a sensitive wipe & make sure it is really dry afterwards. I do it when they are on their tummies, it is easier to get to their whole neck that way! :)
I also used Aquaphor on those parts as well ~ worked great!

Our doc told me to use hydrocortisone cream. It worked well. Good luck!

I used cornstarch in neck creases and it kept them dry.

Yes! To get RID of it, I put diaper cream in her neck....
To PREVENT it from happening again. I made sure DD has a bib on 24/7 and when it got soaked changed it immediately. I just had to pay attention when she was eating and make sure none of it got in her neck. Eventually it went away. And she hasn't had one in about a month.
    Just be careful :)

    We used Desitin here too!
We would wipe it with a warm cloth and pat it dry then apply it. P.S. a little dab of Desitin goes along way too!

Wipe it clean after every feeding and make sure it is dry and put a little baby powder on it to really keep it dry during the summer it will go away within a day or so.

This is what we used and it worked great. Also keeping it clean is key to keeping away the smell.

Ahhh, memories. It makes you feel even worse when you realize that rank, rotten cheese smell is coming from their neck folds.

Clean it well and keep it dry with baby powder (or cornstarch). J&J used to sell a Grins and Giggles roll-on (like the old roll-on deoderants) baby powder that was perfect because you could really easily rub the neck without getting powder everywhere. Don't know if they still sell it.

At the advice of our doctor, we finally just started giving daily baths and that helped too.

If it gets peely or rashy looking, an over the counter hydrocortisone cream will clear it right up!

Is there any one the backs of knees or crease of elbows? If so it could be eczema. The neck was the first place DS showed a rash.

it's been a while since we've dealt with this, but our peds told us it was yeast. it's normal, but it's from milk and other liquids that may build up in those chubby little creases. they told me not so much to treat with topicals, but to keep it as dry as possible. topicals may only irritate it. at bath time, also be sure to give a good cleaning with warm soapy water. i am sure you are using bibs during feedings...maybe make sure they are extra dry at each feeding to help keep things dry.

    good luck

My DD gets this really bad, no matter what I do to prevent it. She's a chubby little baby and I it might be sweating thatcausing it. She doesn' drool a lot or spit up often. I keep it clean/ dry, used lotramin, powder...EVERYTHIN, but she still gets it. Our ped. gave us Nystatan and it still took about 2 weeks to clear up, but it works. Too bad the smell of the Nystatan is so gross!
