C&C are both trying to crawl, so they spend alot of time on all fours rocking. They both have these horrible red, raw, scabbed over knees. I feel so bad for them, but they are determined to stay on their knees. Any tips to help them from getting so beat up?

Maybe you can put them in light weight cotton pants. I think ours were in that stage in the cooler months, so they most often had pants on.

I find that a thick slathering of original A&D ointment followed by Johnson's Baby Creme (not the lotion in the bottle but the thicker creme in the tube) worked wonders for ours! After a while the redness goes away when they crawl...

I kept mine in long pants when they were crawling on the carpet. Strangely, the hardwood floors didn't seem to bother them nearly as much.

Cori, did you mean to put this in FY?

My babies have little red knees also. I try to keep the little cotton strechy pants on them most of the time, and I put vaseline on their knees at night before bed.

It is always somewhat hot here, but they really started getting around at the begining of last summer. So even though it was really hot, I just had to find really thin pants to keep them in and would put on some alovera lotion when ever I changed there diapers.

Do the knees seem to be bothering them? I was worried as well but I never got around to doing anything about it since the girls didn't seem to care. They actually crawled for 6-8 months before walking, including on concrete, and it never bothered them one bit. I've found that most babies don't care so it's not really something you have to do anything about except to make you feel better. One Step Ahead sells little knee pads for crawlers or light pants would work if you need something.

I agree with the long pants suggestion. It may be warm out, but if you are staying in, they should be okay. Maybe on your DD you could do some capris?

There are these really cute things called baby legs. Have you ever seen them? They might be kinda warm, though...You could check those out! Good luck. But as a pp said...they will probably be fine, and go away eventually. If it doesnt seem to be bothering them, then maybe just some vaseline or something would be sufficient. :)

Mine have red knees too. They dont' seem to be bothered by them. I've heard others recommend cutting some adult socks and putting them around the kness. May be worth a try!

We went through the same thing. I just kept pants on them (but not jeans - that seemed to make it worse) and put lotion on their knees twice a day.

It got a lot better just from them spending time crawling around.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I'll have to come up with something to keep their pants on, lol. The little peanuts are so skinny when they rocking and scooting they scoot right out of their pants
