at what age do you give your babies rattles or something to play with? i know my boys are young (3.5 weeks) so i wasn't sure at what age i can give them a toy and what it should be.
I have been giving my girls toys to look at for a long time, but it's only in the last month or so that they've started grabbing them.
Around 2 - 3 months I would play with them with their rattles and such. When they turned 4 months they were able to grab them and play with them by themselves.
I don't remember the exact time, but i think they were about 1-2 months. They started to grab and play with it when they turn 3-4 mos.
In about a month they'll probably be able to grasp something. They probably won't be moving it around to hear the sound for a few months yet though, they'll just want to eat it. Threesisterstoys.com has some great natural rattles and other toys that we love.
My babes are about to turn 4 months cry and can only grasp toys for a few seconds. What they DO love and have loved for about a month, is their "blankies". A receiving blanket or really any blanket works fine, but we bought them those little blankets with animal heads on them...they adore grasping and chewing on them! I bought a second set to keep in the diaper bag/carseat for them, they fall asleep so easily with them in their hands!
Thanks for asking this question! i was wondering the same thing! feel bad that they're just stareing into space in their moses baskets, although i do put them on a play mat if they're really awake and ben hits some of the toys with his arms... although not sure if he means too! he does like looking around though. in the last couple of days i've put a rattle on their wrists - it a tiny elephant with a rattle in it that attaches with velcro - again ben seems to like it - ella just rattles it by mistake me thinks!
