We have Britax Roundabouts that are rated for 40 lbs, 40". My children are enormous, I guess. They are currently 32 lbs, and 36" & 37" tall. So, I've been wondering how much longer do we have to use these carseats? How fast do they usually grow around this age?

I'd look at the clinical growth charts and follow their curves up to see when they hit a max in one or the other. You can see the charts here.

Ryan hit 40lbs/40" right around 3 yrs old. We did move him out of the Roundabouts at about 2.5 because it seemed the top of his ears were above the top of the car seat. He has a long torso. So of course we switched Sofia at the same time to avoid any conflict.

I'll have to look at that next time we are in the car. They both have long torsos. We're moving into 4T shirts in some brands!

Ben and Hannah have weighed the same for the last six months or so (maybe only a pound gain or so). They are growing taller, but not gaining weight. I was stressing after our last appt (during the summer) that we would be growing out of our Roundabouts soon. Well, we are still in them at 3, but barely. I just really want to eek as much use out of them as safely possible!!!

Just wondering what car seat you switched them in to?

I think its so hard to predict, around 3 years my girls were those heights and 30 and 32lbs. Now at 4. 1/2 Jessica is 40" Jorja 39" and 38lb and 33lb. Just had to move Jessica to the older seat, but Jorja is too small, I've told her just one more inch haha..

edited to add, sorry I didn't ready properly as we have the seats that go 20-40 pounds with harness then 40-80 booster Eddie Bauer

My oldest is 95% since birth and has been ever since (a reason I got the Marathon). At age 2 she was 31lbs7oz and 35 3/4 inches. At age 3 she was 39lbs and 40 1/2 inches. Right now, at 3y10m (today) I suspect she's about 42lbs and 43-43 inches. She's in size 5-6.

When I had the twins, we moved them to Marathons (after their carriers) and my oldest is now happy in a Radian 65. She was almost outgrowing the Marathon (height wise) because she has a long torso. In the Radian she still has plenty of time to grow since the top slots are higher than the Marathon. If I could, I would have gotten a Regent, but I can't fit 3 across that way, it's a big seat.

They usually stay on some sort of growth curse from 2 years on. That way you can kind of tell their ht/wt at 3,4 ish.

FWIW, if they do outggrow the RAs early, please keep them in a 5pt harness as long as possible. There are several on the market that go up to 55-65 lbs and 49-53 inches! check out www.car-seat.org for more info.
