Strange. I'm told that rice cereal is very low allergenic but Luke broke out in a small rash over his face this morning and yesterday I fed him rice cereal for the first time ever. I'm hoping it's a coincidence because I can't imagine what he won't be allergic to, if he has a rice cereal allergy.

I would wait 3-4 days and until the rash is all gone then try it again.

Ditto what Kristi said. And if it gets worse, definitely call the pedi. Good luck!

Is there anything else new? I gave our two a new "BPA-free" teether and they both got a huge rash. Plus every time a tooth is about 2 weeks from coming they rash up from having their fingers in their mouths all night long. You are at a perfect time for first teeth? Good luck - hopefully it is nothing?

Well, the rash went away so I tried rice cereal again. And he broke out in a rash again! Poor guy.

We have Beechnut rice cereal. Wonder if I should try Gerber in a few days or just avoid rice cereal all together and go straight to oatmeal. Will need to talk to pedi in the morning.

Interesting. Let us know what the ped says.

So I called the pedi and she said it certainly sounds like an allergic rash even though it's very unlikely to happen from rice cereal. She recommended switching to another cereal like oatmeal and then restarting the rice again in 2-3 weeks to see what happens.

    Bummer!

And I'd stick with Beechnut, Gerber has soy in both their rice and oatmeal cereals...(still haven't figured out why).
