Our girls have just turned 1 year old. They are the rashiest kids I have ever seen. Both have itchy rashes on the tops of their feet and legs (yes, still crawling) and also get rashes on their faces sometimes when eating. We have identified the rubber tipped spoons as 1 culprit and believe eggs are another. Anyone else have any problems like this? We are using some hydrocortisone cream 0.5% sparingly and also some aveeno exzema cream. Poor little things scratch their faces from
the itching. Thanks for your help.

So have you cut eggs out of their diet completely? That would probably be my first step. I hope it clears up soon! Poor babies :(

Obviously eliminate what you know or feel fairly confident could be a culprit. In addition to what you're already doing, Aveeno Oatmeal bath packets are wonderful. Don't add anything else to the bath and just bathe them with the water from the bath. I would also add some regular baking soda to the same bath. Just pour it in and run your hand around the bath to help disolve it. Lastly, you don't want to hear this but yes, Children's Benadryl. It may or may not make them sleepy OR hype them up a bit OR do neither one (effects all children differently), but WILL help with the histamine. No, Children's Claritin is not as effective. Benadryl is best for rashes triggered by allergies or insect bites. Claritin is best for seasonal-type allergies (i.e. sneezing, itching eyes, etc). Talk to your pharmacist about dosing based on your kids' age and weights.

One of my girls was sensitive to eggs but only reacted with light reddish spots around her mouth where the egg had contacted. She has for the most part outgrown this however we did have to also watch for products with egg in it like:

    pancakes
    Ranch Dressings
    Mayo

So if eggs are the culprit, you may have to monitor other foods.

My Jazz had horrible Excema. We finally got her on Zyrtec D and Singular and she has really cleared up! We also bath her in a tablespoon of baby oil every other day to keep her skin moist(easier and better than lotion at this point).

Thanks for your help. At this point I think you"re right. It is probably a combination of allergies and exzema. We have eliminated eggs and anything else we suspect may be causing a reaction. I have started putting lotions on them after their bath and a little hydrocortisone on the bad spots. I think we do need to get away from the soap even if it is the hypoallergenic brands. The baby oil is a great idea. Going to pedi this week so he can take a look. Gosh, I hope that they outgrow this!! Thanks again!
