My DD is drooling ALL day. We go through multiple bibs- and she soaks her burp clothes by chewing on them too. Tonight I noticed a nasty type "rash" (for lack of a better word) under her chin. I am sure it's from wet cloth rubbing on her all day. Her hands are also chapped due to all the chewing. I don't want to put lotion on her hands due to them going in her mouth. Any ideas for managing the rashes? (Or the drool for that matter...,)
    TIA :D

I used to just wipe, wipe, wipe. Occasionally I would put a dab of vaseline to sort of protect it where it was getting red. :hug99:

I put aquaphor on my girls' chins. I really slather it on when they are sleeping! :)

We used both Vaseline and Aquaphor, depending on what was closer. Hope it clears up soon!

Thanks ladies! I had some Aquaphor at the house and applied it right before she fell asleep tonight. :D

Aquaphor is the absolute only thing that worked for us after months of that awful rash. I would put it on both twins every time they went down for a nap and it never came back.

Meredith has that rash really bad ... and Hannah's skin is perfect. Odd b/c they BOTH drool like faucets and they are identical ... hmmm ... odd. Anyway, my Pedi said that those rashes can become yeast infections so gave us a script for Nystatin Cream to put on it ... so far it has helped a little bit. I think I will try the Vaseline, too. Just wanted to let you know ... maybe let your Pedi look at it to make sure it isn't an infection.

Ditto the vaseline, suggested by my pediatrician.

What we actually did was use a tiny bit of blistex lip gloss for a few days, and that cleared up my son pretty quickly.

DD had the same issue. The drool got stuck in her neck folds (she was a little chunky). We use aquaphor or A&D ointment. Both worked for us. DD has pretty sensitive skin and have had to switch to dye free/fragrance free stuff and that has been a big help. We just started using Cetaphil lotion (per a suggestion here on TS) and that has worked great. DD is a big finger sucker and the Cetaphil isn't greasy and absorbs quickly, so I don't worry about her sticking them in her mouth.

Our dd is a drooler and it getting a slight rash under her chin so when my Mom watches them has been "double bibing" her! It seems to work!

Vasaline is our friend here too. It can cause a little baby acne though since it is not water based and wear old shirts because it doesn't come out if you get a big chunk on you. Our DD gets it now from rubbing as she chews her crib rail - she literally looks like a clown!

As for the hands just an FYI be careful to stay on top of that. DS has mild eczema and his hands started to get a little red. I thought it was from him sucking on them all the time and hoped he would stop when the next tooth came in. He didn't stop and they got super dry/red. We did lotion with socks for naps (not a hit as you can imagine). Finally one cracked and the doc said to do hyrdocortozone cream OTC rubbed so there is no residue and then vasaline over that 2 X a day and vasaline 3 or 4 times a day. After 2 7 day rounds of hydrocort his hands are finally looking better. Our doc said you have to balance the negatives of steriod creams with the potental fo thickening of the skin due to the the irritated skin over long periods. Not to freak you out but it has been so hard to get on top of it here because I just waited too long hoping it would get better.

My pedi recommended Aquaphor for DD's drool rash. It seems to be helping a lot.
