my girl had always very dry skin and some eczema but it was never bad and I could keep it under control with eucerin and aquaphor, we lived at the beach so the humid weather helped.

now we are up close to valley and it's very dry...she started to have it more severe, especially on the back of her legs and all over her arms....first I thought, food or milk allergy (they started cows milk 1 month ago) but now I see that it's only in the areas that are exposed to sun and where I put sun lotion. she's got light tanning marks (I don't encourage tanning but it just happens) and it's just so hot here that I wear her usually a t-shirt and shorts.....I used Aveeno sunblock and the regular pink one as well....

I called my pedi and he said if it gets worse to come in....but my old pedi back at the beach said she's got dry dry skin and slight eczema...she's not bothered by it at all....she does not have any other signs of allergies like sneezing, teary eyes, etc......

should I just not put sunscreen on her and put her in long sleeve and long pants and then see? or does anybody have advice on a good sunblock ? I heard triple cream helps with eczema...the aquaphor just does not seem to work anymore....

I care more than her I know, weird thing, she does not have it in the face, I put the sunlotion there too, but not so much.

    thanks for help.

I don't know what could be causing your poor DD's problem, but if it is sunscreen, you might want to try some others. I am very allergic to almost all sunscreens and have to be incredibly picky about what I use. One product that we like is Avalon Baby. I wish it came in a higher SPF. However, neither my sons nor I have ever broken out from that, or from the Alba Organics line of sunscreens.

    Good luck figuring it out!

My son has ezcema and the Triple Cream has helped and we also use Petroleum Jelly on the rough spots. I would also suggest to call your pediatrician and see if they can recommend a sunscreen for sensitive skin. Good luck and I hope you find one that works!

If she has eczema, it's possible her skin is being irritated by the sunscreen you're using. You mentioned the "regular pink one" and that might be the culprit. I would agree with the PP and switch to something natural and/or organic. We use California Baby, Alba or Earth's Best.

thank you all for tips.....it wasn't really sunny and too hot the last 2 days so I did not use sunscreen and the rashes are better...I also started to use the triple cream and that seems to help as well, in addition to lotion her up 2x day with eucerin and aquaphor.

I did leave a msg with pedi to find out if they can suggest a sunscreen that would work for her, before I have to buy 2 or 3 more and just try....good my skin is not sensitive so I can use them all :)

    I'll keep you all posted,

so my pedi had really no suggestions.....he said that I can try hypo-allergenic ones.....like neutrogena etc.

I wonder if I should try natural ones first......

she was all fine again for 2 days (without sun and sunblock) and I did the test on her arms and legs with the 2 different lotions, aveeno baby sunblock and the pink one from CVS.
she broke out again...more from pink one than from aveeno....

oh well, I start looking for others now...he also said that most sunlotions moisturize? I have not found that to be true, opposite, dry out.
I moisturize her with aquaphor, eucerin and triple cream, that helps.

thanks anyways for all your advice, keep u posted.
