I have gained 10 pounds in the last two week, 7 of which have been in the last 9 days. It just started getting hot here so I know that is the reason. I am retaining water and my feet are starting to swell. I drank a lot of water yesterday and I was still up two pounds this morning from yesterday morning! I have my 20 week appt on Monday. Should I call the doctor now or just wait until Monday? The other factor is that I just switched from an OB to a peri that also delivers babies and my first appointment with the peri is Monday. Do I call my old doctor or my new doctor? I'm not too concerned about the swelling because it isn't awful yet, but that just seems like a very rapid weight gain.

    Marisa,

:hug99: Many hugs to you! :hug99: I was extremely swollen with my first 2 pregnancies (singletons), but not until about 30 weeks. I know how uncomfortable that can be! I would say you should surely call your doctor and I would call both. If you could move up your appt. with your peri. I think that would be best. I read that you are expecting identical twin boys...congrats! Is your weight more in your belly or all over swelling? I would just want to make sure that their has not been extreme amniotic fluid gain in one of the babies as it could be a sign of TTTS. I surely don't want to alarm you and I'm not a doctor, but I would surely call your peri and let them know. Always better to be safe and reassurance always makes a person feel better!

I'll be praying for you and your boys! Keep us posted!

    Jenn

Thanks. I didn't even think that I could be extra amnionic fluid, but it is more all over than in the belly. The swelling is mostly in my feet and I can tell my face is swollen. I am having identical boys, thanks!

I gained 8 pounds in a week (I don't take my weight, the doctor does). He said that I am retaining fluid...espeically because my legs were huge! I'm on modified bed rest, but can't really rest because I'm home with my dd until my husband gets back from Iraq.

It wouldn't hurt to call both doctors and let them know what is going on, then they can decide if they want you to come in early or not.

I called the peri and they moved up my 20 week appt from Monday to tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

I think calling your doctor is a good idea, but just FYI there is a strong likelyhood you are fine, it has been hot where I am, I am only 12 weeks and gained 7 pounds in a week!
