I was just reading that women under 5' 2" have an increased risk of preterm labor. I guess we just run out of space. Anyway, I am 5" and was curious if anyone out there was also under 5' 2" but still made it close to 37 weeks.

I know it's a random question but it would make me feel better to hear there is another shorty out there that broke the odds. :)

    Thnxs,
    Lanie

I'm 5'6" and have been on bedrest since 27 weeks for PTL contractions...I'm not sure how much height has to do with it.

I am 5'8" and carried them for 38w2d (scheduled induction). My oldest was 9 days late (over 9lbs) and I went into labor naturally with her.

I haven't been on bedrest at all but stopped working at 26 wks because I had a job where I was on my feet 8.5 hours a day and lots of heavy lifting. So, I'm pretty sure that's helped me. I also have a 4yr old who is home with me every day so I'm not exactly sitting around all day. I still make supper, do laundry, clean ect... every day. I just don't walk very far any more and sit down if I'm having a lot of bh contractions. HTH and best of luck to you, Jen

5'11" gave birth at 37w4d no bedrest, I did request to be put on house arrest at 35.5 weeks though, because work was getting on my nerves!

I'm 5'7" and my girls were born at 34 weeks. I went into the hospital at 31 weeks with pre-eclampsia. I've never heard anything that height determines pre-term labor.

Well, I'm 5'3" and I feel like I've already run out of room! I know I sure can't move or breathe! I'm only 23 1/2 weeks, so I know the worst is yet to come! I hope height doesn't have a lot to do with it!

I'm 5' 3" and carried them to 37wks 1 day..I think they would of stayed longer but when Doc picked a day for the c-section I was ready from them to come out!

I am 5' 1" and carried till 34weeks 6days when my water broke. I was due on August 22nd and was never put on bedrest at all, although I was told I had to stop commuting to work in NYC in June. So I stopped June 10th and worked from home after that. The girls were both transverse the entire pregnancy, Alexandra was back down over the birth canal and Paige was back up with their heads on my right and feet on the left. I truly believe that I would not have made it as far as I did had they ever turned vertex. I was scheduled for a c-section at 38weeks.

ETA: I forgot to mention that they only spent a week in the NICU and then came home.

I'm 5' even. I carried my girls to 37 weeks exactly when I had my scheduled C section. Up until that point, I never had a single contraction, no dilation, not a single minute in the hospital, on bedrest, or any other complications. My girls were born healthy, no NICU time, and came home with me 4 days later. It CAN be done!

I am 5'5" and made it to 35 wks no days and left the hospital in 5 days with no NICU stays! BTW we only had a csection at 35 wks because of begining signs of Pre-e (a slightly high blood pressure and head aches) no preterm labor here!

I'm 5'2'' and am starting to REALLY slow down now.

Last year when I was pregnant with my daughter (singleton) I was going along like someone simply strapped a basketball to by belly and life went on as normal.

But this time around I'm really feeling it with two! I am very tired and feeling all the aches and pains that people are posting here that I didn't feel at all with my first pregnancy.

My best friend and I were pregnant together last year. She is 5'9''. In a picture of us back-to-back you could definitely see that her body "absorbed" the baby more than mine since she had a longer torso.

No bedrest for me (yet) but I have definitely been napping more the past two weeks! In fact, I took a 2 hour nap this morning!

Everyone is built so different. I have a long torso. My mom is 5'7 and she held us (twins) in until 39½ weeks. She was 115 lbs before she got pregnant with us. She was tiny.
I am 5'3 and was 'plump' before I got pregnant. I was having contractions at 37wk, 5 days at my scheduled c-section (didn't know about the contractions - couldn't feel them). Worked upto the day before I had them and drove to the hosp. No NICU time.
    Good luck!
