Random Acts of Violence

My boys are two and one (Matt) is very prone to random acts of violence. I'm not talking about a little pinch or swat. I'm talking about taking the toy broom, winding up, and slamming it on his brother's head completely unprovoked and other such activities. Now, I know he is likely doing it for attention, which he is likely to get since I cannot tolerate this type of behavior, but timeouts and the like (and even a spanking which I'm not comfortable with) has done nothing to change this behavior.

Anyone in the same position? Is it just an age thing? When did they outgrow it? All of my friends have singletons or kids further apart in age so they have never experienced such circumstances.

oh yeah, Jet is 5 and still hasnt outgrown this stage. he goes a little more easy on Aubrie, but with Harrison he just doesnt care what kind of pain he causes....time outs have never worked with him all i can do it make him sit on his bed for a while and it has changed anything.

i would like some help too...??

DS is like that to 1 DD. I'm just trying to be consistent with time outs, but so far no luck.

Good luck to you. Hopefully you will find a solution soon.

I have this issue too with Christopher. We ended up separating them at daycare and it got a little better but he still does it. I'm at a loss too because consistency of timeouts and empathy isn't working.
