    An ear infection....

My DS's have had several ear infections each. One of them already has ear tubes. The other one has had less ear infections, but has had several.

Well, all of a sudden in the past couple of days my DS will raise his right shoulder and bend his head over almost and sometimes touching his ear to his shoulder. I remember having ear infections myself as an older child and holding my ear to my shoulder because it somehow relieved the pain. We've been encouraging them to "dance" a lot, and they will move their bodies and "dance". DS will do this ear to shoulder move a lot while "dancing". But I've seen him doing it at other times too. Could this just be his version of "dancing"?

No fever (but he's been at his 9 mo WBV with no history of a fever and had double ear infections... I felt horrible for not knowing!) He's been a little grouchy, but we also just got home from a 10 day vacation where his schedule was not kept very well, and he didn't get enough sleep.

    What do you think?

It doesn't hurt to take him in and have it checked out! At least then you'll have some peace of mind. I hope it's just his new dancing :D

I know I could take him in, but I just feel a little silly about it ! Our pedi is an hour away (one of the closest to our small town), so it's a big deal to pack them up and take them over. If I drive all the way over there, and he checks out okay.... then they'll look at me like I'm crazy  ! Of course, if I'm right.... I dunno, I was just wondering if anyone else's kid do this weird move!

Mine do all sorts of weird things; sometimes my MIL freaks me out thinking they're having seizures or something. My guys are just odd ducks!

They have never had ear infections, so I don't have anything to compare to, but in this instance I would just have to rely on my Mama instinct and go with my gut! Does your ped have a nurse you can speak with over the phone? Mine does; mostly they just tell me to come in  but you might be able to ask them for signs to look out for so you can make an informed decision.

Good luck, and I hope your DS is just weird like mine. ;)

Both of mine do this now. They both have had multiple ear infections when did lead into them getting tubes. I just think it is a silly thing. I mentioned it to the ENT and to our pedi during a WCV and both said their ears looked clear.

    Good luck!

Well, on a whim I took his temp, and it was 101. I didn't even think that he felt warm to me. So it looks like we may be heading in to the pedi tomorrow.

For those who are wondering, we had a rough night with the other DS. So I called this am, took them in to the pedi, and we have strep x2! On amoxicillin, hoping they both get to feeling better ASAP!

ACK!! I guess you were right to be concerned; way to go with your mama instinct! :good:

I hope they are feeling better soon! It will be interesting to see if the "dance move" continues after your DS recovers from strep, or if it was just a coincidence....
