Sigh, things are getting so overwhelming here.

We went in for our growth ultrasound tuesday. Baby left is now in the 1st percentile. Baby right is in the 24th. So now it is considered really not good, LOL. I went to my prenatal on wednesday and the Dr. says the baby still grew though only 4 oz in two weeks. So they are still just monitoring. We will watch closely and see what happens. The left baby also had low fluid at the growth ultrasound, but seemed decent during the BPP yesterday.

So now my schedule looks like this. The doctor says it is his own IUGR/Diabetic loop for monitoring. He is such a great doctor, he has a good sense of humor. (IUGR means Intrauterine Growth Restriction)

Every other week - growth ultrasound
Every week - Doppler (ultrasound to check blood flow in the umbilical cord and placenta)
    Every week - Prenatal appointment
Twice a week - Non stress test
Twice a week - Biophysical profile (Combination of NST, ultrasound to check on babies overall status, movement, breathing, fluid, stuff like that.)

We have a magical nurse called nannette who makes everything good. and she scheduled as many of these things back to back on the same days when she could, So it comes down to three days a week, tuesday wednesday, and friday I am at the hospital complex doing all my appointments, LOL.

That means I have an appointment on the 23rd, 24th and 26th, But they gave me xmas off!

Then to add to my stress my sister pauline who is also pregnant, had her water break monday. She is one week behind me, and is admitted to the hospital for the duration of her pregnancy, or at least how long they can keep the baby in. So I am spending a lot of time over there now. We will do xmas at the hospital, and she is keeping in good spirits overall.

    So things are fun here!

SOrry to hear about the babies. Are you on bed rest? Ive heard laying on your left side helps deliver more fluid and nutrients to the babies. Wishing you all the best and a UNEVENTFUL christmas!

Jenny, you are in the EXACT same boat that I was at 26w5d. Our baby A was 1lb 4oz and baby B was 2lb 4oz. Baby A was in the 1st percentile for growth. I was put on hospital bed rest immediately and get 3 NSTs a day and BPPs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I've now been here for 44 days and baby A has grown to 2lb 5oz and baby B is 4lb 6oz. My doctors are amazing and the absolute ONLY thing they contribute to me being able to cook them this long is bed rest. Unfortunately, there is no magical cure or procedure. You just have to keep them in their natural incubator as long as possible.

Please talk to your doctor about bed rest. Within 2 days of my being on hospital bed rest, baby A had more than doubled her fluid levels and they have continued to maintain a great level since that day. Feel free to PM me. I know it seems like a long time, but think about putting yourself in a bed next to your sister! My peri was just saying yesterday how much he contributes our success to the bed rest and how there's no better path we could have taken. Nobody expected us to get this far, but it IS possible.

Praying for you and your little ones.

I'm sorry for the problems you are having still. I hope that little one bulks up soon. Are you drinking the protein drinks and eating tons of healthy food already? That really helped with my IUGR baby that was growth-restricted due to TTTS and having a 2-vessel umbilical cord. I was never hungry because I worked so hard to get in an extremely well-balanced diet of specific amounts of each food group every day. Good luck and keep up posted.

I was put on bedrest at 30 weeks because my baby A was having the same trouble. maybe you should ask your dr about bedrest - or just put yourself on bedrest and eat and drink all the good things you can!

That sure sounds like a rollercoaster. I'll be praying for you and your babies, as well as your sister and her baby to keep cooking for as long as they should!

Sorry you're going through this! My twins were delivered at 34 wks due to IUGR with my baby B. She had only grown 7 oz in four weeks which was discovered by the growth ultrasounds. Personally, I think my pregnancy induced high blood pressure probably contributed or maybe even caused it. My Dr's decided she'd do better outside than in. She is doing great!

I hope they start to grow so they're not delivered early!
