My babies are now 4 weeks old., and we just got HSHHC in the mail the other day. I'm trying to do the "1.5-2 hours wakefulness" during the day before putting to sleep again. My question is, do you actually have to put them down in a crib or pnp, or does daytime sleep in a swin, bouncy, or bjorn count? The babies generally sleep well (for 4 weeks old) in their cribs at night, but I haven't put them there during the day. In the very beginning, they would nap during the day in the pnp twin bassinetts, but now they protest unless in swing, bouncy, or my arms..... When should I start putting them in their cribs in the dark for daytime sleep? HSHHC is a bit dense, and I'm pretty sleep-deprived ...... Thanks!

If I remember the book correctly (I too read it while extremely sleep deprived!), he says that movement sleep (in a swing, car, stroller) isn't as good. That said, my girls napped in swings until they were about 4 months old. Now at almost 8 months we are just starting to get them used to napping in the pnp or crib. When they are as little as yours the motto is "Whatever works!" GL, Leighann

Ditto pp...I've only started the napping in the crib in the last few weeks.

Mine napped in the pnp or bouncy seats up until they were about 3 months old. Then I put them in the same crib until they got too big to share.

In theory, sleep in motion isn't good - but with twins, I say just do what you gotta do. If you can get one to nap in the Bjorn while you get a few things done, go for it! Whenever you can get them to sleep in the crib/pnp, that's good, but don't sweat it too much. SURVIVAL first! :)

DITTO! With my first I was a drill sergeant. He only slept in his crib, etc. With the girls, they slept where they would and that was the swings until 12 or 14 weeks old. They are on their second nap of the day in their cribs sound asleep. The transition was not difficult but I couldn't have done the first 12-14 weeks without the swing. I would have been in the funny farm

That book is hard to read so I'm still trying to get through it but I did read that motion sleep is not good. However, for me it's motion sleep or no sleep so I chose motion sleep. Greta sleeps in her swing quite often.

Ditto - you do whatever it takes. My girls were in their bouncies or swings til they were nearly five mnths - and now they nap in a crib and they're fine (ok, once a day, but still).

really, dont' sweat it too much. I think the notion of being really rigid and structured just doesn't work when you're dealing with two - even if they are identical, they're not the SAME baby!
