Since they have been rolling over, Abi like to roll over to the bumper and put her face into it to sleep. Should i take them out? The both like to pull the blanket up onto thier fave also when they r on thier backs- anyone else kids do this? I make sure they have light breathable blankets in thier cribs so they can breath through them...

My little Grace loves to smash her face up against the bumper to sleep. No matter how many times I move her she still wiggles over by it. She will either wiggle by the bumper or up next to her sister. When I try to put blankets on them to sleep you can here them kicking until they will kick all their covers off.

One of mine sleeps either with his face touching the bumper or the top of his head. I used to worry over it, but that is how he finds it most comfortable, so I still have them in for both. I dont do blankets. First, we live in FL and its still darn hot here and they do worry me, but that is just me.

I have never taken the bumpers out with any of my kids. Emilie liked to push hers down and sleep on it.

Maisy did that when she was just 1 week old, so we took the bumpers out and got the breathable mesh bumpers. They are somewhat padded and have worked for us.

My kids don't move too much in the crib, so I still have the bumpers in, they don't really go near them. But they both have their blankets that they love to sleep with. And BOTH of my kids sleep on their backs and like to put their blankets over their faces. I asked my pedi about it, and showed her the blankets. They are those small blankets with a little head on them (dumbo and hello kitty) that they are meant to carry around. She said it was fine for them to have them with them. I still get nervous, so after they fall asleep, I usually go in and take the blanket off of them. I still can't imagine letting them go all night knowing they have a blanket on their face!

If you want to do the super-orthodox thing as far as SIDS goes, you should chuck the bumpers and have them sleep in sleep sacks, not with any loose bedding (unless they're in a tight enough swaddle that they can't possibly get a blanket over their face). Bumpers do increase the risk for SIDS, as does loose bedding. Though of course plenty of parents use them with no probs. Your call.
