When did your little ones start holding thier own bottles? I started offering a sippy cup once a day , and if they r laying down they hold it fine (with the handles) but they donthold thier own bottles and certanly can not getthe concept of holding it while sitting upright, they push down on it instead of up. Just wondering lol !!

I want to say around 5 1/2 mos or so. We started giving them bottles in the car so they'd be happy. The slight incline helped and they're champs now!

My DS holds his good but my DD still wants it to be held for her. They both hold thier sippys really good though!

Meara started holding her bottle about a month ago, but has only gotten good at it in the last week. We are still there to help her because she gets tired. Ana doesn't hold her's. DH and I joke that its because 'she has *people*' to do these things for her!! :p

my girls are still not holding their own bottles. I think it's more of the fact that they enjoy the snuggling during their feedings. They know how to hold them but they don't tip it up and really seem to show no interest in doing it themselves..

Hailey is starting to try and hold hers ... she does ok for a little bit ... but Jake could care less. He likes to just lay there like a slug and be fed.

Mine started doing it around 10 or 11 months but that was totally my fault. I had no idea that they were capable of doing it if I positioned them just right. They weren't able to really get the whole tilt thing so I always had them laying down on a propped up pillow so that they weren't laying flat. They do fine with the sippy now. Wish I had started teaching them earlier as it was so exhausting to have to keep doing it for them so many times a day.

i never 'taught' them per se...but they started doing it around 5 months. they need to be laying on a boppy though because they don't know to tip it up while sitting. they are no using sippies pretty well while in the high chair. they tip them enough to get liquid out of them.

Mine started holding their's really well w/in the past week and half or so. I think they might have done it sooner, but I wouldn't let them, b/c their arms seemed to just get in the way more. But now it's kinda nice to just plop them down, and give them a bottle and walk away. I still have to check on them at times, b/c for whatever reason towards the end of the bottle they like to turn it over and try to chew on the bottom. So funny. But they do really well tilting them up just enough and if they kinda drop it a little they are able to pick them back up pretty well.

6.5 months now - still no sign they'll be holding their own bottles any time soon. I would love it if at least one of them could do it.

My boys are 8 mos and still no sign of holding their own bottles. We use Dr. Brown's 8oz bottles and when they hold them on their own, they don't realize to tilt them up so they just end up blowing bubbles in the bottle. They've been doing this for the past few months. It's really cute, though.

They seem to have the same trouble with regular sippy cups so I switched to the ones with a straw and it works wonderfully. I haven't attempted to put their formula in it, though. They still have cereal in their formula so I think it would be too hard to get the thick liquid up through the straw.

Sometimes I wonder if they'll ever do it on their own (but I know they will, eventually). I am so envious of the 5 or 6mos moms that already have this accomplished! Hats off to you and your babes!
