I just started reading 123 Magic (thanks for the recommendation) and it really resonates with me, it fits our existing discipline strategies and parenting philosophies. My boys are 17 months, is it too soon to use the STOP tactics? I realize the START strategies are a little advanced, but I wonder how old your kids were when you were able to effectively introduce 123 Magic.

    TIA!

I did not try it at all until my kids turned 2 and I found that the STOP tactics have been helpful most of the time. I'm not sure how my two would have handled it at 17-18 months. Good luck!

we started doing 1 minute time outs once the girls were 12 months old - i didn't do much counting though. i would say try it & see how it goes, but it's likely that they won't really get it until closer to 2.

One of my DD's is a little more mature than the other...I started around 18 months with her. To my shock she got it! She understood that when I put her in time-out that she was to sit there and it was punishment. The counting = time out took a little longer probably due to her age. My other DD was closer to 20 months.
