I have been sick all week, went to the doc on Tuesday and i have the flu and was dehydrated. They put me on antibiotics(zpack) and a prescription cough syrup. I am on the last dose of both meds, and i am feeling better, just stuffed up( nose and chest) What is safe to take for this? Also where i have been coughing so much, my stomach is so sore- im guess from the muscles tightening when u cough. Does this hurt the twins? I mean is it uncomfortable for them when im hacking it up? Just wondering, because it hurts me (sorness) Thax alot [IMG]

I had some luck w/my congestion using Shower Soothers - it dissolves in the shower and really opens things up. I used one at night before bed so I could breathe while I slept.

    Feel better!

No. They are all nice and snug in all that water! Have no fear. It hurts you a lot more!!

    Feel better soon! [IMG]

I was super sick at the end of my pregnancy with my ds....bronchitis and the whooping cough (seriously, who gets whooping cough?) and I spent 22 out of every 24 hours coughing endlessly. It was SO hard, but I'll tell you what...I had a happy healthy 9 pound little boy who must have thought it was music to his ears. Your babies are FINE. You're the one suffering, and I know your pain!

Poor you, sounds miserable. Don't worry, coughing wont hurt the babies at all. For your congestion, maybe try the old breathing steam from a pot of hot water, maybe with a few drops of eucalyptus oil? Or - put some in a bath or shower and stay in the steam.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I know that you are aloud to take a robitussin durring pregancy. Infact, i found this...

    Cold Symptoms and Hay Fever
If you have high blood pressure, talk to your doctor first
    Chlor-Trimeton (antihistamine)
    Sudafed (decongestant)
    Actifed (antihistamine and decongestant)

    Cough Symptoms
    Robitussin or Robitussin DM
If sore throat persists, you should call in to the Obstetric Clinic to schedule an appointment for a throat culture.
    Constipation

the site i found that on is.. here.

I took it durring my pregnancy and my babies are fine...good luck and hope this cold is gone soon for ya...they're no fun.

Yep, I've been taking Robitussin (from a sheet of things ok from my doctor's office). It seems to help. We can also take pseudophed and the pseudophed with Tylenol also (if you have a sinus headache).

I've been bad and have been sneaking a few squirts of Afrin. I know it's not on the allowed list but I can breath and I looked it up... no reason to not take it, just hasn't been "proven" to be ok.

These colds stink! I think everyone is right about coughing violently and the babies being fine. My belly is sore right under my ribs from all of my coughing. I think they just feel like a they are on a fun trampoline ride?? But honestly it will not be shaking up there little world.

Hope eveyone with the sickies gets better and this winter will think about getting ever and done.

I just got over bronchitus and a sinus infection. Also took z-pac and a cough medicine (both prescribed by my OB, so I felt "safe"). I found that Mucinex (sp?) helped tons with the tight cough that yanked at my round ligaments (ouch!). Really there's lots that you can safely take for the pesky lingering symptons, but for the cough I found this helped tons and it was perfectly safe.
