Welll....I know I am a pro at potty training one child, b/c I did my 4 year old.

But where in the heck do you begin with twins?!!!!!! I don't have a million eyes to let them run around and streak.

What are some of ya'll suggestions for you who have done this alread.

There is a thread at the top of this forum with some great tips.

My tip is wait until they are ready and let them train themselves. Just make sure they understand what it is for and the process (which basically means you get absolutely no bathroom privacy) and let them take the reigns.

I have two partially trained boys and OMG!!!! I initially tried to train both at the same time - bad idea. I trained one at a time and it was MUCH easier. The issue I am having is they pee on the potty consistently, but also poop in their underwear consistently. We started a sticker chart and it seemed to be going well, but then we regressed. I am so sick of washing poop out of 5-6 pairs of underwear a day!!! (My kids poop a lot). If you have any suggestions for this problem - PLEASE let me know.

    Thanks,

Like Dianne said, if you wait until they are ready, it will go much better. I did fight the pooping in underpants issue for a long time, but once he got it, that was the end. It was hard with my boys in that they never gave an indication that they were going, so there weren't any cues to watch for.

Stacia, yours are pretty young, unless they are showing a major interest, I would simply wait. If you do it before they are mentally and physically ready, you will have a lot of stress and mess.

I think you have to just simply watch for cues and follow their lead. I would venture to say that your daughter will likely show interest first vs. your son. My boys first became interested in the potty at age 2yrs. They got a Elmo/potty doll for their b-day and that seemed to spark some interest. I bought a potty chair then and they started going on it (sometimes 2-3x/day....sometimes none). It was very inconsistent for a long time and I did not push the issue.

My friend from playgroup and twin mommy (D.R.) Deana lead the way for me. Her boys are a month older than mine. As she said, she started off training both...and it was nuts. As it turns out, my son Ben just one day "got it". He day/night trained basically on his own at 34mons. It was nice to have them stagered in training. Luke is finally getting with the program (a few months after Ben) We also have poop issues...(mainly holding it back). I'm just trying to be patient knowing that things will work themselves out in time.

I did one at a time! I could not imagine doing both at the same time. Luckily I had one that was ready very early at 20 months and 1 that wasn't ready until 30 months. So one was completely trained by the time I started with the next one.
