Evie is sick and RSV has not yet been ruled out. We went to the doctor's office yesterday and he wants us back tomorrow to check her again. He said she may be in the beginning stages of RSV.
She started coughing and throwing up yesterday and has continued today. She just kept her most recent meal down (thankfully) and is sleeping. For those of you that have dealt with RSV, did you give your baby/babies other fluids besides bm or formula? When I called today, the nurse suggested that to keep her hydrated. She won't take a bottle so I have been nursing her any chance I get in hopes that she will keep it down. How did you handle it?
ALso, what should I be looking for? The doctor said watch to see if she gets worse (Which she has) but I need to know what is the real worrisome stuff....uh oh baby crying...TIA!

If you think she is worse, I would at least call the nurse and let them know your concerns. I would watch for a high fever, not keeping anything down, diarrhea, and anything else that is just out of the ordinary. Good luck and I hope she feels better soon and that this is just a bad cold.

My kiddos were sick last week, and I happen to have the "list" the nurse line gave me that would be reason to call back or bring them in. They were vomitting and not taking the bottle when I called.

OK, they said to call back/come in if they also had:

    Temp greater than 103
    Diarrhea along with vomitting
    Crying like something is wrong
Blood in the stool or vomit

Good Luck, and I hope it's just a bug and not RSV!

Edited to add: We had to resort to giving Ellie pedialyte from the medicine dropper because she pretty much refused the bottle for 3-4 days. We also used the sippy cup, and just held it for her. For some reason she would suck that, but not the bottle.

Jackie had a very mild RSV case last year about this time, and it was really scary not knowing how bad it was going to get. They put her on breathing treatments, and she got better pretty quickly. She wasn't throwing up, but our pedi said to call back if she was, and we would maybe have to try some pedialyte. If you're worried, call them back - that always helped me feel a little better after talking over my concerns with the nurse.

My twins have it now. They both have bad coughs, thick runny noses, vomitting with some feeds (seems related to coughing) and wheezing. One has frequent stools not really diarrhea.
So unfortunately it is viral and has to run its course (which can be 2-3 weeks, ugh)
The big concern is the breathing difficulties - if you notice your babies chest retracting - sort of collapsing where the ribs meet the belly, any nasal flaring (the bottom outside of the nose going out while taking in a breath) call immediately.
My doc said usually if they are doing okay wihtin the first 4 or 5 days it is not likely the will get a lot worse.
It is scary I know, hang in there.

If it has worsened, definitely call or go to the Dr.

    Keep us updated.

I did call which is when they said to give her more fluids. I tried pedialyte but she refused it but kept down the last two meals. I nursed her at least 3 more times than usual today. Hopefully all will be well. We go tomorrow at 10.
