    Hi everyone.
This is my second pregnancy and we just found out I'm having twins 3 days ago when rushed in for a sonogram.

I had been spotting a few weeks ago and then it stoped and then it would start again for a an hour and then stop for a week and I spotted again a couple days ago. The twins seem fine but I'm still a little worried, this didn't happen with my son.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

also I wasn't told by the doctor yet what kind of twins I'm having but I do have ultra sound pics. Is there a way to tell?

    Thanks

I'm definitely not the resident expert on reading u/s pics! But some of the ladies might be better at helping you with that. I will link to a blurry photo of my mono/di identicals. . . they did have (still do) a very thin visible membrane between them - keywords being "very thin". The u/s was about 9weeks:

I have had some spotting early on in other pregnancies and things turned out fine. I know it causes anxiety. If it continued to worry me, I'd insist the doc see me again soon for reassurance.

    Congratulations on your babies!

Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your twins!!

We found out that we were having twins when I started spotting at 10 weeks. I only had one episode, but I know many moms on this forum had several incidences of spotting.

I am sure you will get good feedback from others!
    Again, welcome!

I had this and my Dr came to the conclusion I had a low lying placenta but it went back up and I've had no bleeding in my second trimester.

I think we can rule out mono/mono twins because there's a visible membrane.

I could be wrong, but does anyone think these are di/di twins? Don't take my word for it please!!!

I had bleeding my entire first trimester with my twins...it stopped by the 12th week. I haven't had any spotting with my current pregnancy (singleton).

I had spotting on and off from 6-8 weeks. I found out at 7w6d that I'm carrying twins. My OB said that spotting is more common in twin pregnancy, but she still had a specialist take a closer look to rule out any problems.

Mine are also in separate sacs, but the specialist determined that they're di-di. I'm not sure how exactly to make that distinction in a u/s... all I know for sure is that if the babies are in the same sacs, they are definitely identical. Otherwise, I believe you can't find out for sure until birth whether they're ID or fraternal.

    Congrats on your twins :)

I had spotting at 10 weeks. I freaked out and rented a doppler. But both were fine.

Anyway, yours look di/di to me - our mo/di twins' membrane was so think we couldn't even see it. Yours look like they have separate chorions.

So, that basically means you could have ID or Frat twins. 30% of ID twins are di/di. 100% of frat twins are di/di.

Hope all is well in there - congrats!

    Congrats to you and Welcome!

I am not sure about the type of twins but the ladies on here should be able to help.

As far as spotting, I had 2 friends that had it the whole first trimester and then it stopped around 14 or so weeks and they have beautiful healthy babies.

I only had one little bought of spotting and it was hardly worth mentioning. I hope yours stops soon but spotting in a twin pregnancy is actually very common.

Yours look like Di/Di to me also. I have mo/di (found at 11 weeks)and the membrane between them is so thin the tech had a really hard time finding it.

    Thanks everyone!

well I'm completely new to the twin lingo (di/di; mono/di; mono/mono???)

not sure what that all is, is there a place to look for it that is put simply?

    CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!
Yes, I had spotting on and off for the first 14 weeks and then the OB discovered that one of the babies and placenta were hanging low and putting a lot of pressure on me. Once I was put on bedrest, it stopped.

Just be sure to share it w/ your doctor. Hopefully everything will be fine. :D
