One of the boys is ready to go to one nap. And, we are getting busier with things to do in the AM so as far as scheduling one nap seems to make life a little easier. We've been attempting to drop to one nap for the past several days. The problem is that the boys sleep for 1.5 hours no matter what. It is like clockwork that they do this. They go down easily and wake up happy. But, over the course of a day, 1.5 hours of sleep is not enough to keep them from having meltdowns much more often. And, 1.5 hours is not enough for momma, either!! HA!

So, my question is, will they learn to sleep a little longer (i.e. 2 hours or dare I say 2.5 hours)? Did your children start out this way and adjust to a longer sleep period? How long did it take to adjust?

Their nighttime routine is the same and they are sleeping well. We are doing lots of activites in the morning to help keep them up and to hopefully wear them out. Any thoughts? I have just gone for putting them down at 1 pm. I tried the putting them down at noon or so, but 1:30 pm till DH gets home is a LONG TIME!!!

When we first swtiched to one nap mine were only napping for 1-1.5hrs, I actually posted a poll about nap length because I was always hearing about 2-3hr naps. Then shortly after that they started napping longer. It was like it took a month or two for them to get they were only getting 1 nap from now on, and then they started napping longer. Now they normally nap for 2-3hrs.
Once they were consistently napping 1.5hrs I stopped going in before 2hrs was up.

mine are dropping there 2nd nap a day also. i have noticed that they sleep longer after couple days of napping once a day. now they nap for 2 hours. a couple times it was for 3 hours but their sleeping has been off lately at night also so they are back to 1.5 - 2hrs.

The only suggestion I have is to give them a big lunch, or heavy snack, or full sippy of milk before the nap -- maybe if they're full, they'll nap longer?

We're going to be dealing with this issue soon, too -- our naps are in flux right now!
