my twins are 3 and are with me 24/7 my doc advised it would be good to be around other children they are never, I would like that also the thing is it scares my to put them in a school, I want more of a pre school not a daycare so they will learn.

I have heard of mothers day out but cant find anything in MO on it, those of you that have your 3yr old in preschool what are some good ones, that are very very cheap I am only looking for a few house in the am 1 to 2 days a week.

I have no idea where to start and when I do a search in my arean I find nothing. I am in Troy MO

please any help is much needed and thanks

p.s my little ones are not potty trained either so I know some reg preschool you have to be...

I don't think you have to do preschool to get interaction w/other kids. Mine go to Bible school where they have a non-parent adult they have to take directions from and other kids. We go to the library for storytime. We go to the zoo for zoo classes. Our little town runs summer sports starting at 3 years old. That and just going to Playplace and learning to deal with other kids.

Look around and look through the phone book. Call the library. Call the city's parks and recreation department. You'd be suprised how much the children's librarians know about what there is to do and where the playgroups are.

Ask around in the neighborhood. Also, check the phone book under "nursery schools", and just start calling. They will probably set up a day and time for you to visit. Most "traditional" preschools, offer 2 days a week for 1/2 day--either am or pm. School doesn't start until September, so you have plenty of time for them to get trained. I think you will be surprised to find out what is out there!

Many Mother's Day Out programs (and preschools too) are run out of churches, so you might just trying calling churches in your area and see if they offer anything. Also, our YMCA has a preschool, so that might be somewhere else to try. I hope you find something that works for you!

You can contact your local Early Intervention Coordinator or just contact your local school system about the Head Start programs & pre-school programs in your area.

My son got speech therapy thru EI and they've coordinated with the school system here to get him into a preschool program at age 3. He's on a waiting list for Headstart, but if they can't get him in, the school system will place him in a regular preschool program. Both of these programs are free to him.

    Best of luck!

I have my boys on two lists already for preschool starting in Fall 2008. Even though we go to storytime at the Library and Playgroup (and there are tons of my dd's friends coming and going too) I think preschool is a great idea for kids to make the transition to K and full time school a litte easier.

Also look in to your local High Schools too. Mine here have preschools run by HS Seniors going into early childhood Ed overseen by two teachers. It is an awesome program and only $400 a YEAR here (Oct-May). Where the Y is $300 a MONTH each! Yowza!
