Hi everyone, I delivered my mono/mono twins on monday 5/24 after 2 months in the hospital for constant monitoring of them so that part a hooray! :) babies are in special care nursery one of my girls has a feeding tube after getting a little worn out after her feeds and the other little girl seems to be doing fine.

In any case I'm having a really hard time recovering from the csection. I stopped pain meds because it took me a week to go to the bathroom )6 days and it was so horrible I'm now even petrified to eat solids so I've been eating lightly. I still had the constipatoin problem despite taking 2 colace a day in the hospital and even a suppository. I had told both doc and nurses and they weren't concerned because they were hearing bowel sounds.

I am having a burning pain on and off on the left side of my incision the incision looks ok it doesn't seem swollen or red its just this burny pain sitting and standing make it worse and I probably over did things yesterday because I kept bendind down to pick up toys or straighten (i have a 2 1/2 year old)

Also, I still look like I'm 5 months pregnant and can't walk faster then a snails clip. I'm wearing an abdominal binder the doc gave me which is uncomfortable but I find without it my stomache feels so loose I feel like my parts will fall out. My doc told me to order spanx (which I did today online) to help pull in my abdominal muscles.

In any case I read the sticky on what to expect for the csection and it seems alot of people pop back up afterwards so I'm wondering if this is normal that its taking me so long to get better, also if its normal to have a pregnancy looking belly afterwards and how long it lasts. Finally wondering if anyone has had this burny off and on type pain on one side of there incision? I made a follow up appt to see my doc but the earliers they could give me was thursday because of the holiday weekend.

Sorry for the long post but would REALLY appreciate any insight or similar experiences you might have gone through.

    thanks so much.

I had my c-section on May 19th so 11 days ago and I still have a burning/soreness pretty much around the same area as you described. It's really annoying and even will hurt through the pain meds. My doc said it's normal and that I may feel pain for a long while. As long as there is no swelling or redness not to worry.

Hang in there! It's harder when you have a little one running around but rest whenever you get the chance. :youcandoit:

As to your pain, a nurse asked me which side the doc was standing on. Apparently docs pull babies out and tend to ream on the opposite side a little bit. My pain went away. It does take a bit to fit into old clothes and get the uterus down. I know your babies are in the special care nursery, but pumping/ breastfeeding can help your body bounce back faster.

I was able to fit back into my regular clothes after 2 weeks, but everything I gained was in my stomach and no where else. I lost all my pregnancy weight in 2 weeks. My utereus took about 5 weeks to fully shrink. I weigh 15 pounds less now than before I got pregnant with twins but unfortunately my 'twin skin stomach' is still is with me. It took me a good 6-8 weeks to recover from the c-section and even then I got super sore if I overdid it. Remember, it is major abdominal surgery, hang in there, it will get better.

I am in your same boat and I hope the ride ends soon. This c-section recovery completely stinks :headbang:. I am already an emotional hormone wreck and feeling all this recovery pain isn't helping. I hope you are able to get help around the house, I feel like I am doing nothing around the house - my DH has really stepped up to the plate- Love him for it, but I hoping this will help with a quicker recovery, but I don't see the light at the end the tunnel yet. I know we can do this:grouphug:!

Hi Sandy, Yes is this your first section? this is mine my dd was vaginal. Yes I am a wreck the house is a mess because I was in the hospital for 2 months prior to having the twins my hubby was just trying to set up a bassinet for one of them who is supposed to come home tuesday and we can't now find the screws. sigh. so I've been crying on and off all day because its such a mess and its making me crazy but I'm too sore and weak to get much accomplished at all. I just reallyu like things in order and its a nightmare right now.. do you have the burny pain in one side too? I'm taking motrin but it still comes and goes and when its strong I just kind of freeze and can't even think straight because it hurts so bad, i just didn't expect all this I guess I was kind of naive about the whole thing!

It will get better! Try to remember that you are recovering from major surgery and it is normal to have soreness/pain. It is part of the healing process. I know it is hard to rest when your house is messy or needs organizing, but taking it easy now will result in a shorter recovery period. If you overdo it, your body will have to recover from both the c-section and the damage done during recovery.

Congratulations on the birth of your girls!

I've never, ever understood why women CHOOSE c-sections, the recovery is AWFUL. I also had the terrible burning pain on one side. It took a good 2-3 weeks for it to go away, but it finally did. My Ob told me it was nerve pain.

All of this is totally normal. Don't forget that you are only a week out from MAJOR surgery. It may have been super fast while you were in there, but they went through so many layers that had to be sewn back up, and they also have to pull pretty roughly on that small"ish" incision area to pull babies out so it's normal to have pain there. Don't overdo it, pamper yourself and have others do for you right now. I always found that I would be in more pain, have more burning, etc the more I did. Sometimes I felt "fine" but later I would feel how much I had done earlier.

I too had the constipation issue but really recommend that you stay on your pain meds and have your doctor give you something or eat things that will keep your bowels moving normally.

I honestly didn't think that the recovery was bad considering how invasive the surgery is. I was up and moving around and doing most of the baby care things right along with my husband within a week, but I did deal with the burning in my incision and I definitely babied myself in terms of how I moved around and how rough I was with my incision. I think you'll feel a whole lot better in another week or two! Hang in there :)

Increase your fiber. Get some metamucil or Fiber pills (or even Miralax which is a gentle laxative). That will help counteract the narcotics. Which you still need to take. Cut them in half if you want. Keep pumping. Your uterus was really stretched out with two babies in there. It takes a bit of time for it to shrink.

It took me awhile to recover I was still really hurting up to 3 weeks later just in spurts though....I looked pregnant until about 6 weeks after delivery & my cut hurt on one side more than another. This was my 2nd c-section & let me tell you having a c-section with twins is a whole different ball game! But that being said youve made it through the 1st week which is the hardest. Good luck feel better & enjoy those babies!

Don't feel bad! This is the exact reason why my kids are still in PNPs. If you don't have 2 PNPS, I strongly recommend you grab some cause they are super easy to set up and once you have a safe place to sleep set up, it will be a huge relief.

And every time it hurts, remember that YOU BEAT THE ODDS AND HAVE TWO LIVE, HEALTHY KIDDOS!!!!!!!! I know that always made me feel better. And the c-section pain really does go away soon enough--the twinskin, that may just be with you for a while longer.

:yahoo: CONGRATS on your mo-mo babies. I wish you a speedy recovery. I have no advice for the C-section as I am at week 20 with my mo-mo twins.
